Furthermore, North American traffic engineers dont know how to make them properly. Case in point:
- There is a traffic circle in Edmonton with traffic lights in it. Madness.
- The traffic circle off of Highfield Road looks like it was designed by someone on Quaaludes.
You try and get people to use traffic circles and then provide them with BS, third-rate traffic circles that suck.
Secondly, Calgary (and Canada) is a cold place. Traffic circles are swell and all, but once they ice up in the winter they're a goddamned hazard.

I know this first-hand... slid on the train tracks and side-swiped a car in that circle... Couldn't do anything to avoid the collision after realizing there was a car that entered from Dartmouth Rd road that was right in my A pillar the entire time, only seeing the car as I got close to the circle. I'm sure if the slick as S##T tracks weren't there I would have stopped without issue.

What grinds my gears is that everytime someone well known passes away or an athlete gets hurt, you have anti-vaxxers on social media claiming the vaccine is what killed them or caused them to get hurt

Hell...I've seen a City Bus go through it sideways on more than one occasion. It happens and the bus cant stay home.

I don't know if this is true, but I was told by a concession worker one time that it was because people started chucking their caps at Justin Bieber during a concert and he got angry and stormed off the stage.

Your friends and family should take it upon themselves to pepper you with bottle caps if you attend a Justin Bieber concert.

It even extends beyond vaccine crap. I remember being really bummed when Taylor Hawkins passed away. A few days later I was helping a friend move and 5 people stood around the moving truck on a break having a straight faced conversation about how Taylor was killed because he was about to release a documentary exposing celebrity pedophiles. I looked at each person waiting for someone to look as dumbfounded as me, but nope, just a bunch of QAnon followers completely in agreeance.
I just turned away, looked at my phone and took a quick walk rather than saying anything.

No, they don't. What do you think public transit is for?

I’d argue that the lowest common denominator needs to improve. If learning a simple, better, circular intersection is how we drag their brains forward, then so be it.
Roundabouts are still safer than perpendicular intersections, which come with plenty of their own downsides, including higher rates of serious injury. If someone struggles at a simple roundabout (just yield - that’s it!), then they’re also going to struggle at other simple procedures like yielding, merging, lane changing, and regular intersections.
I am doing my part every time I drive a roundabout. My horn is primed and ready to educate.

We are living in a society where the solution to a problem was...to invent a retractable awning thing so that ice hockey officials could safely travel the 10 feet from the dressing room to rink where they are somewhat exposed to the blood-thirsty masses with no self-control.

RGMG when 1 of my 4 pack of beer has a bad seal. Wild Rose Cherry Porter. It's in a beer fridge and nothing in there is frozen. Could've been that way at the store as I don't make a habit of inspecting the tops...
Cheapskate question: take it back to Co-op without a receipt? It's like $4, but I feel my principles have been violated.

I used to manage a liquor store and we’d always have a certain amount of “breakage” in each shipment. I’d replace it no charge and return it to the supplier (BDL, etc) for a refund.

I've taken a picture of the other cans from the pack that don't have sticky tops...the liquid is still in the bad can and I haven't popped it, but it's got that weird feeling that cans get when they have been frozen.

Sage hill roundabout really seems to confuse people. The entry sign for starters makes it clear the inside lane has right of way to exit to their right when taking the 3rd exit (assuming you’re entering heading west, which is from the strip Mall area).

My all time favourite is that when heading north the taking the first exit east, the right lane is a dead end lol. It runs right into parked cars.
You used to be able to park right up against the end of the traffic circle. They moved it up about 2 car lengths but it’s still completely useless to have a right lane at all.
It’s the chefs kiss of Calgary roads department ineptitude and that’s not an insignificant achievement.

Good to know I’m not the only one who’s had at least one WTF moment there. Sure traffic circles can be amazing but when the city does a special exception design with their own posted instructions and dead end lane it messes everything up. Especially learner drivers.
