You Know What Really Grinds My Gears? Now with 3x more gears...
Nachos go under the broiler. About the only thing I’d use the large oven for.

I don't think you guys know how to use microwaves or something.
Or you're, like, microwave hipsters. IDK, it's a super weird take that everyone here is too good for microwaves. Only on CP lol. Love this place.

I like to deep fry. What if I floured a left over greek-style slice and threw it in the deep fryer for a minute or two?

At Costco right now. $14 for a ####ing watermelon. $14!!
And I really hate the stupid ####ers who keep blocking the aisles to stuff their pig faces with free samples.

For the people who don't believe in microwaves anymore, the amount of microwaving that occurs in restaurant kitchens would knock your socks off. Known as "Chef Mike" for a lot in the business, it happens a million times a night.
A ton of dishes are prepared in advance, thrown in the microwave with perhaps a little water and than heated for 3-4 minutes and than finished in an oven or stove top.
A lot of the special requests are just done in the microwave. You want fresh vegetables with no salt? Nobody is defrosting and steaming/boiling anything for 15-20 minutes. You want your soup "extra hot?" Chef Mike to the rescue. Your potatoes are a little cold? Perhaps a microwave or a quick deep fryer action.
I grew up in the Greek pizza business. It's always wort it to throw it in a pan and turn on the oven for 5-10 minutes. Nice and crispy the way it should be.

Heck, I'm a weirdo, but I also find cold left over fried chicken also pretty good.

I was gonna say this is literally me except with fried chicken, then I saw you gave cold chicken a shout out at the end, well done. It's almost better cold somehow.
And I was literally eating microwave reheated pizza as I read the initial pizza post lol. But in my defence I was at work.

I used t work at a pizza place and a buddy would order a pizza then have me leave it in the fridge so he could have fresh cold pizza.
Weirdo.

That’s a feature it’s non pig faces that are wrong.

I don’t know how people can go to Costco and claim it’s an acceptable use of their time. No arguments can convince me of this.

I can walk into Costco at 8 o’clock on a Wednesday evening, get what I need and be out long before 8:30, saving pretty substantially along the way. Stop going to Costco on the weekend, and it’s totally no worse than any other store.

I dunno, I can do a grocery run there in less time than I spend at Superstore. The trick is to get the day and time right, there are calmer times. Once you know what you want and where it is, it can be pretty efficient.

In what sense? the shopping is fine time wise. Waiting for gas? I agree.

Depends on the size for me. Box in fridge is good for a day, 2+ put it in something sealed.
I know people that leave it on the counter or in the oven. Guess they never got a second of food safety training in their life

On a weekday it's not bad at all. The people that go on a weekend afternoon.... mental problems.
Same with gas. You can't convince me a half hour lineup is a good use of time, but I go to costco gas on my way home from work which is just as it opens at 6:30 in the morning, no line

The line-ups look long, but I don’t think it’s close to approaching 30 min - at least at the Sarcee Costco where I’d fill up if a near-empty tank and grocery run aligned - the lines move pretty briskly with all the pumps.

Never been to that location but Balzac, Tsuut'ina and Deerfoot Meadows are easily 30+ minutes between 4-7 or weekend
Okotoks was never bad though, 10-ish at the most

box in the fridge is the fastest way to end up with dry ass pizza that is much more difficult to revive, plus it takes up way too much space. probably only pizza microwavers do this.
best way to preserve your slices while taking up minimum space is stacking them inside a ziploc freezer bag (large usually works best). crust will retain its moisture so that you don't end up eating granite when you toast or airfry it.
