It does seem like a lot of Calgary listeners are more Flames fans than sports fans as it's nothing but whining when they focus on other sports. Edmonton being more blue collar has more sports fans.

Disagree completely. Edmonton is an Oilers town. Not even a hockey town.

Arguments might carry more weight if people stopped insisting on referring to her as "Cassie" while in the same breath referring to male commentators by their last name.

Intended on not, it's very demeaning.

I think he’s up there among the best. He has really good eyes, by which I mean, he sees tips, penalties away from the play, etc. that usually go unnoticed at first.

What's demeaning about it?

Personally, I find it easy and prefer to refer to her by Cassie since it sounds better than Campbell-Pascall.

It's no different than many referring to Gaudreau as Johnny only. Is that demeaning?

You couldn't be more wrong. They have led the CFL in attendance for decades. Riders fans would like to think they are the best fans in the CFL but no team has supported their CFL team over the years more than Edmonton. They are likely the best overall sports fans in the country.

Her fault for hyphenating her name.

This is quite untrue, NBCSN does post games and pre games all the time. It's actually what I really miss from watching hockey as a kid 30 years ago

The Stamps have 3 years left on their current deal with QR77, so that a non-starter at this time.

I would be a longshot for them to enter the market now, but down the road its a possibility.
There is a TSN branded station in those two markets, but there is not a Sportsnet branded station. It's the same story: the markets can support only one sports talk radio station. Those two cities just happen to have Bell-owned stations in that format rather than Rogers owned.

Absolutely. It's one of the things I've noticed he excels at as well doing all my highlights. Most other broadcasters are prone to making significant mistakes, like not realizing a puck had gone in, adamantly calling a goal for the wrong player, etc.

Even Jim Hughson and Doc Emrick are quite bad when it comes to accuracy now. Hughson just blew an OT call the other day and Emrick never seems to know what's happening.

People refer to Kelly Hrudey as Kelly all the time in literally the same role.

Anyone think a split is more likely? If sportsnet just won't bid what makes everyone think TSN will jump at it? Obviously there is a reason sportsnet wont bid (money)

They jumped at the Jets and Senators. I don't know the numbers, but I can't imagine that either of them have better ratings for their regional games than the Flames.

Anyone who streams the games instead of having cable should hope that TSN doesn't get the rights. The TSN mobile app is garbage, isn't available on living room devices, and is locked to 30 FPS which is terrible for watching hockey. The Sportsnet app is leagues beyond it

Senators are about the same fan wise according to Sportsnet as the Alberta teams and you get probably the added viewership of Toronto and area.

Winnipeg I think was flavour of the day coming back and just lost the national rights (maybe I’m wrong here).

I just think it’s telling they only pick one of the Alberta teams. Considering both are essentially the same market (all of Alberta and sask) can the viewership really be that different? Or is it profitable to only run one op?

TSN helped Canada win gold, what has Sportsnet ever done?

Yes, if you brush aside the points that oppose you and only accept the ones that support you, it is very telling!
