I'm happy for Gasly. I'm also happy to see Stroll get on the podium.

Really cool race, you don't get to see that level of infectious excitement by a winner very often. The Hamilton/Bottas/Verstappen wins are so boring after "Yes!, great work everyone, we have more to accomplish but this was good".

Also, do we know for sure that Perez is the better of the two racing point drivers? Everyone in here is talking like it's automatic that they're making the wrong decision to cut Perez over Stroll, but could there be some blinding due to fans generally not liking "pay drivers" even if the results are there?

I mean I do realize that Perez missed two races, but Stroll is doing quite well when they're head to head in the same car.

I think Perez is faster then Stroll. But Stroll is more consistent

That was very entertaining. So happy for Gasly and Alpha Tauri. Completely controlled the last half after the red flag. Poor Sainz, he was great as well. Stroll should have been 10th. Garbage rule that you get a free pit stop after a red flag. He was the only to not have pitted when Leclerc dumped it. A red flag should mean you can't touch the car at all.

Alrighty...updated standings after an entertaining Italian GP.

DoubleK wins this one with 3 correct picks and is making it a 3 way race for 2nd. Arsenal is second for the race and jumps into 2nd overall, 1pt ahead of Jayswin.

Agulati had a tough week and went full Ferrari

Woob + BTimbit it was first race missed so just used the pics from Spa...reminder to all the Mugello is this coming week!!

Spoiler!

An historic victory.

Exactly 4371 days since Vettel took the win for Toro Rosso in 2008.

With Pierre Gasly’s win, this is the first time a non-Ferrari, Mercedes or Red Bull driver has won a race since Kimi Räikkönen’s win in Australia 2013 with Lotus.

Pierre Gasly becomes the first French driver to win a F1 race since Olivier Panis at the 1996 Monaco Grand Prix.

With Gasly’s win, Honda becomes the first engine manufacturer since Renault in 2013 to win a race with different teams within a season. (A feat made even more remarkable that Ferrari and Merc haven’t done it, especially given the state of Honda in 2015/2016)

All from reddit.

And Renault to become Alpine F1 starting next year. Oh good. Alfa, Alpha, Alpine, Aston.

Such a fun race to watch today. So happy for Gasly!

Lol looks like still picking a Ferrari in my top ten was the least of my worries.

They do it in F2. 8th place in the Saturday (Feature) race starts on the pin for the Sunday (Sprint) race.

For F1 they would probably draw a number between 4 and 10 after qualifying and invert the starting grid based on that.

They would do a 30 minute sprint race for qualifying. The grid would be the reverse WDC point table. So Hamilton would start last, then Max, etc. The sprint race finishing order is the starting grid for the race. It would be tough for Hamilton to get poll, so he'd be working his way through the field, along with the point leaders in the sprint race, and Sunday race. Would mix it up a lot.

This would also mean Hamilton would have to pass Max (and everyone else) on the track to win.
