wise
can't improve much if you don't play. Hope he goes down dominates and returns as the player they didn't want to trade for Stone

When Tre kept saying “he needs to play” and just trailing off…writing was on the wall.

Now we see his character. Does he work his ass off to get back up, or pout.

This will be very good for him. Crappy timing in injuries really messed up his development. He has flashes and just needs to pull it all together.

The right move, but no idea why it took so long.

I mean sure, if there's an injury, he's in the lineup. But that shouldn't preclude him from getting ice-time in Stockton - Stone could slot in for one game, until Valimaki returned.

Seems like a big moment for Valimaki. Make or break based on how he takes it.

If it goes well and he takes it well, he is a better option than Zadorov and Stone more often than not

They didn't go out and get Zadorov just to sit around and wait for him to fail so they could pull him out of the lineup

So is the accepted line of thinking here that Flames were not aware he could be sent down without waivers?

Asking for Jay.

Someone help me out with the waivers rules. Why did he not have to clear waivers?

I can't imagine the team didn't know that.

This is the best explanation I’ve seen.

Well, he got off to a rough start, and they likely had second thoughts. He was a healthy scratch for a while.

If Valimaki is going to be a top 4 NHL D, this is his best route to getting there. Light it up defensively and offensively in the AHL and he’ll get that opportunity with the Flames.
His knee injury set him back. Time to stand up sit down or get out of the way.

He was a 7d with the Flames with not a lot of upward trend.

Awesome, glad to see finally happen. Guessing the timing is because the team is in California. Let him just play some meaningful minutes down there, we still have Stone as a spare here so we're fine
