I finished the campaign couple nights ago and I think it's definitely worth the $40.

Also, not all upgrades are modifiable on the fly. There are Evolution Upgrade where you have to choose 1 strain and you can't change that.

Just keep kerrigan alive, and dont' worry about the brood. Also attack the enemies Zuran shoots out asap, as this will give you time to attack Zurvan later. You just have to be patient and save. At the end he'll use a differnt move and just use quick move to avoid it but watch out for the orange dots.

Continue to use her heal - it is a fast cool-down so make sure you keep her health up - use her dash when the enemies spawn to damage them and use the jump attack on the ultra enemies.

That worked for me on hard, no idea what works on Brutal, haven't done that yet.
