You probably can, but to do it in the way he is probably thinking is a huge PITA.

Easiest way is to get a cheap DVD recorder and record the show while it is playing off the PVR. Then use a program like Handbrake to rip to the computer.

I'm not sure it will pull off recorded shows from your Shaw PVR but it will record live HD TV through component cables.

This is about $200 but if you just want SD you can find tuner cards that are much cheaper.

Yeah cause I wanna pull of the 24/7 shows cause I quiet liked them and would feel safer having them on my one hard drive.
