Winnipeg and STL also both had 99 points, so not sure that one is really an upset.
And Justin Williams! I never read sports books, but would if he wrote one. Just how does he keep himself ready for these games time after time?

What a post season.

hats off to Brind Amour... heck of a job there.
sometimes you need the right chemistry too, between coaches and players.
gotta think this is a helluva way to fire up all the ex-Canes though...Lindholm, Hanafin, Ryan and Peters...
time for them to man up

What sucks the most about this is I remember hearing rumors of the Flames kicking tires on Bishop, Mrázek, Fleury, Anderson, and Jones. They all led their teams to the playoffs and half of them now have led their team to the 2nd round. Nothing against Smith, just sucks we could have had a long term solution there.

Amazing how far hard work and courage can take you.
Brindamour was that kind of player.

So the goal in the regular season now is to coast through most the season, but do enough to get in and healthy, then give it your all in April.
Canes and Avs both only started elevating their game in the last 6 weeks of the season. Worked out for them pretty well.
Top seeds are a trap, home ice advantage an illusion. All that winning and you just run out of gas.

Maybe he traded the players he thought had not enough heart.
Not bad. Going from "Peters had crap players" to beating the champs the next season.

Yeah.
It's obviously a stretch to say they won the trade, especially if they can't get much for Fox (who could have been part of this if he was interested).
But there's not a Hurricane fan alive who doesn't believe they upgraded at coach, whether it's true or not.

Just because the current set of Flames players haven't figured it out to this point, doesn't mean that the bulk of this core (that isn't moved) won't put it together in the coming seasons.
Some of those guys have been waiting a while for this, were tradebait at one point or another cause they were once seen as expendable too.
It takes patience.

I agree for the most part, but I don't think teams were really running out of gas, I see it more as just complacency, almost like they thought they were entitled to win their series without having to work as hard as the lower seeds.

I don't think that Peters was the problem in Carolina, but the results aren't looking good so far, especially with that team advancing after trading a bunch of players to us

four division champs out, four wildcards in.
i don't think anyone can take away anything from it... this year is an aberration.
the goal is and should be to finish as high as you can in the regular season, but as Peters said, they probably need to figure out a way to stay motivated and sharp in the final week or two

Don’t underestimate the loss of Trotz , in the Caps loss. I have never seen a SC champ basically release their HC.
The turnaround of the Islanders is a testament to how good a coach he is.....without Tavares.

* Bunch Of Jerks
* No Cups in 51 years.
* No Cups in 28 years.
* Team that hates goals.
* Brad Marchand's nose.
* Nathan McKinnon more minutes than Nikola Jokic.
I assume you all cashed tickets on this.

Who are the jerks? Have to be more specific. They're almost all jerks.

He got Colorado in that list twice and skipped over Dallas.
The team whose owner called them a bunch of losers...
