I wonder what we should call our guild. How about, The Chris Butler Matt Stajans?
Please don't hurt me!

This thread keeps popping up and tempting me to fire it back up....so damn all of you!
Since I'm so out of the loop, are there any expansion packs that I need to purchase or am I good to go out of the gate?

The Rise of the Hutt Cartel expansion if you don't have it, however I think if you sign up as a subscriber you get it for free now.
It gives you Makeb, and also takes the level cap from 50 to 55.

That works too
I thought that Rise of the hutt cartell was awesome, the whole mechanics of the mobs feels different. Like I said, that final boss on the Imperial side is just incredibly nasty.
Its also the only quest line where you have to kill a Champion level boss which is a first in this game.

Is there a cost attached to creating a guild? I'll volunteer to make one, but I did a bunch of crafting last night so I only have about 15k credits. I'm guessing that isn't enough to make one.

I don't think there is, I think you just need yourself and 3 other people

There's a $5000.00 guild start up fee. Here are the instructions
http://www.swtor.com/gamemanual/how-to-play/guilds
all the members of the group (min of 3 + yourself) will have to be there to start it up. If you need some cash, I can email it to you (just confirm your character name, and set up an evening when we want to meet, since I'm assuming this is going to be a republic group, on Coruscant).
The only real limit on f2p players is they can't setup a guild bank account.
Once we set up the guild we can simply invite our other toons to join.
Anyways, let me know when you guys want to meet and set this up, I'm in tight for time this weekend due to coaching and family obligations. Chances are, I'd join with my JC or my smuggler, though my JC is really armored up.

We could probably find some time this weekend to set something up. I'm anticipating playing a lot this weekend starting tomorrow morning. If anyone wants to just friends list me for now my guy is name Komz on the Republic side on Bastion.

Just remember that the game was a poorly marketed, poorly designed, horribly run Vanilla WoW knock-off that charges you online game prices to play a game that plays like an off-line RPG and you'll be fine.
Sadly, I think if they marketed this like a Diablo Star Wars game and not a WoW Star Wars game with a free on-line multiplayer component to work in tandem with the offline component it would have been so much better. Game always failed on expectations.

I've been playing it with a KotoR like nostalgia that has me really enjoying it. The fact that it's multiplayer only serves for a distraction in chat while I'm taking a taxi somewhere or sorting out my inventory... or the odd time someone's around when I'm starting a heroic quest and I invite them.
Then I do the odd flashpoint which all seem pretty straight forward up to level 19 anyway.
So overall, I'm enjoying it for what it is.... like you said a vanilla-WoW clone set in the Star Wars universe that would have been just as popular/succesful as a single player KotoR 3 I think.
All that said, I've subscribed for now because I feel I'm getting $15 worth of enjoyment so far.
Not sure about this whole Republic side guild you're talking about tho... Imperial ftw :P

Not quite. A legitimate KotoR 3 would have lasting value ten years from now. People still buy and play KotoR. This game will be dead in less than five. Almost everyone playing this now, plays it as a sequel to KotOR. That was always the issue. It plays as a terrible MMO that ripped off all the old, bad stuff from WoW. It plays as a decent KotOR successor but no one in their right mind will pay $15 a month + $40 - $60 for the game and each expansion for single player RPG. They missed the mark.
Incidentally, ESO is going down the same path. No one was clamouring for Skyrim online. No one wants to be the Dovahkiin in a sea of Dovahkiins. So now they are appealing to two entirely different groups. Elder Scrolls players and MMO players. Missing the marks on what made Elder Scrolls games so enjoyable and immersive while also failing to make an MMO that breaks the mold and is worth the $15 monthly fee, right after Guild Wars proved a good MMO can be made without monthly subs.

We get it Blaster, you dislike the game. That has been made apparent throughout the topic. Move on with your life and let us that do like the game enjoy it. Just, move on man.

Don't really disagree with any of your points Blaster... But for now at least I'm quite enjoying swtor. I really liked Kotor and vanilla wow so I'm not surprised that I like this.
