Default Residential Solar

I have been looking at getting solar panels installed on my house recently and have gone as far as getting proposals from about 5 companies now. I think overall I'm leaning for something just over 5 kW to maximize the government grants, but could go up to a 7.5-8.0 kW system to really ensure microgeneration (I don't have the best roof layout to really maximize this though). I know I could optimize with the solar club etc. but that may only make sense if I put on the larger system.

Does anybody have any experience with having solar panels installed? Any recommendations or cautionary tales?

Thanks

Just had mine finished by Virtuoso Enerrgy - 9kW system.

So far, so good.

Sales guy was good, PM was great, and lead installer was great.

I didn't have to do anything after signing the contract, PM took care of all permits, etc, and they were pretty close to hitting the original install date I was told.

I had a 10kw system put in, in September. I'm happy with it. I used Solar YYC. They get my vote for referral.

Heads up the Canada Greener Homes grant is a cluster. Don't expect any money from then until 2023, unless you are well down the approval process already.
