Is this one of the verses from "We Didn't Start the Fire?"

I was going to say the same thing. I followed a pretty strict vegetarian diet for several years and even though I am not a vegetarian any more, I only eat meat at the most, 2-3 time a week. In general, fake meat is inferior to just having properly prepared vegetable options.

I agree ! One thing or one trend I can't understand in the North American diet is this trend of the same meat dishes becoming meatless with a bunch of processed crap or even original ideas.

Let's not order a veggie pizza, that's boring. Let's get plant based pepperoni, Beyond Meat sausage, vegan cheese, cauliflower crust. This isn't pizza!

Meatless steaks, meatballs meatballs, vegan chicken and veggie dishes, vegan burgers. It's strange to me.

There are literally a million dishes and a ton of cultures that do delicious, veggie and vegan friendly meals that are original, not the same repackaging of classic dishes.

Celiac is an interesting disease.

You first need to have the gene that causes celiac.
Then you need to have some sort of trigger to activate the problem. This is poorly understood right now.

Then you body produces anti-bodies to gluten and these anti bodies attack the Celia of your small intestine casing damage and reducing the ability of the body to absorb nutrients.

So perhaps there good be dietary / lifestyle triggers that cause celiac to be more prevelant in one area or another. However point at Italian flour as “better” doesn’t seem valid.

Completely agree,

You build a diet that tastes good not an approximation of the thing you no longer eat. Diet Pop, decaf coffee go along with this.

I do enjoy a veggie burger that is homemade with beans and other vegatables mixed in. You aren’t trying to recreate a burger, you are creating a different meal served on a bun.

I can hear it in my head but what is this thread title referencing? My brain is foggy. And it ain't from consuming too much gluten.

For my take - I personally have a negative reaction to alcohol do to almost non-functional acetaldehyde dehydrogenase enzymes - similar to people with gluten or lactose intolerance and I can understand how its been a lifelong pain in the ass to go to events and social occasions and feel like the odd one out.

A lot of North Americans have an aversion to unfamiliar foods. I ordered calamari for my team lunch and one of the attendees grew up on a farm and refused to eat seafood. The other said it was too adventurous for them.

My friend who grew up Mennonite in Sask would only ever touch bread, meat, and potatoes.
