This is a game I think Peters and Treliving could have tried Lazar in Bennett's spot. That speed would have been helpful, and Lazar can have a chance to live up to his own NHL billing. I am aware he's in Stockton.

If Hellebuyck would play like he did last year I would have no problem saying we are #1 contenders for the Stanley Cup.

I don't have anything against Calgary but after that announcing duo slobbered over them all game long I am just so incredibly glad that the world's greatest team lost. That was kind of an event-free game but I'll take it.

Not much to complain about. The Flames played well considering they were probably up until 4 last night.

Negatives:
-Derek Ryan was working hard, but I'm not sure if his passing is top-line material.
Had a few turnovers, and kind of prevented the top line from getting chemistry going.

-Kind of a sloppy play by Backlund for the double-minor. The reffing in general was pretty questionable.

-Brodie was pretty weak again.

Positives:
-I thought Giordano was pretty fantastic. Next game he'll be tied for second in Flames games played.

-Smith was good. Hellebuyck was better, but that's bound to happen sometimes.

-The effort was there. It was a well-coached game by Peters. The Flames played their game.

If Bennett or Monahan are going to miss more games, I’d like to see Dube recalled. Good chance he’d come up with a hop in his step.

Good effort from the Flames who were playing the second game of a back to back. Deserved a better fate.

Smith with another strong effort in goal giving hope that we 2 solid tenders heading towards the playoffs.

Really impressed with the play of Andersson tonight. Love his puck movement and his play on the point during a PP.

The worst part of all this is that they had to go to Winnipeg, at least they didn't make Monahan go.

3 more call ups. One wasted on Lazar whonhas been send down already. Assume one will for sure be for Valimaki, that leaves 2 call ups left. Seems a shame to waste 2 on one player when he didn't get a look in the first go around.

7 defencemen?

Quine, and Mangiapane on the PP units? Hell, it’s bad enough when Czarnik is on PP2.

Team worked hard, but this lineup was built to fail. Even with that said, the Flames could have walked out with the W had they not had rotten luck.
One thing I am certain of...

Bill Peters has not given any clear thinking person cause to believe he makes “moronic decisions “.

2 left, actually. Quine and Lazar have both been recalled.

Whoever Gio hit with a puck at the end of the game there...i hope they are ok. Looked like Johnny took it in the head.

Brodie has been excellent defensively the last four games.

pretty good effort considering the circumstances and got rotten luck.

the powerplay let them down big time, especially at the end of the third, a pivotal moment that sapped all the momentum they had built up in the period up to that point.

i think kylington would have provided a spark from the back-end. couldn't he at least replace fantenberg, who was merely ok, or go in for stone, who can get in game shape after they clinch? don't understand his benching at all.

also don't understand quine on pp2 or hathaway as the extra attacker

jets looked weak. could barely hang on against a depleted team on a back to back and got 3 lucky posts

I’ll never understand NHL scheduling. Winnipeg plays in LA late on Monday. Why not have this game scheduled for a Sunday 2pm matinee or something. Give the flames more rest for a better game and the Jets would still have more than enough time in between starts

Quine was a non emergency call up? Well, that makes it more interesting.
