I get the fact that they are one of the best programs in the country. They are for sure one of the top 4 teams in college football. However, their conference changed the rules at the end of the season to allow the B10 and OSU a chance to get in the playoffs. It's unfair and stinks.

I am an Oklahoma fan. I don't think Oklahoma should have been in the CFP. Lord knows everyone is tired of seeing them get in and quickly exiting. This isn't an opinion because I dislike Ohio State or because I feel my team was jilted. It's an opinion that it shouldn't have happened because it was unfair to the rest of the teams in NCAAF.

Maybe even with 5 games played they still get the benefit of the doubt and get in. However, their only wins over ranked opponents were a TD win over Indiana (who is getting beat by an unranked 5 loss SEC team right now) and a win over 5 loss Penn State team. Based on that eye test there were far more deserving teams with better bodies of work.

Again, I think they are one of the best teams. I'm not railing against them, they did what they had to do. I am venting about the unfairness of the process.

Zero. That's not how it works. It would all be booster money and/or money from the athletic department. Which is no laughing matter this year with the financial hit that all schools have taken due to Covid. Auburn did the same thing, it's surprising but also not surprising to see teams do this in a Covid year.

There a source on that? Some money may be covered but this article indicates they are public employees.

Salary is part of the University payroll, but boosters cover these massive buyouts.

Yup it’s mostly privately funded. The tax conscious can continue to cheer with reckless abandon, their fiscal values won’t be offended by supporting multimillionaire coaches and their buyouts

Auburn University football coach Tommy Tuberville, who resigned last week, was paid more than $2 million a year, or about four times what President Jay Gogue makes. But only $235,000 of Mr. Tuberville's salary came from the university. About $1.5 million was paid from the $51.3 million multimedia and marketing-rights contract Auburn has with ISP Sports. That's about on par. On average, a top college coach's base salary accounts for only about 25% of his total compensation.

In any event, Texas has the largest (or second largest as of now, as it is dependent to some extent on the state of the oil market) endowment amongst Universities. A couple of million dollars to UT is nothing, even if they did have to pay anything out of pocket.

With a contract like that why is the state paying him at all?

Because he’s still an employee of the institution.

Anyway reports from the Athletic that Michigan is close to an extension with Harbaugh keeping him there through 2026.

*the rest of the Big 10* HELL YEAH!

Reports of a possible Covid issue in one of OSU's position groups. Nothing concrete yet but this could/would delay the game. There is a fallback date one week later for the national championship but at this point of the season there is not much wiggle room left.

Both teams have completed their Covid tests and have indicated they are able to play. Alabama travelled to Miami yesterday, OSU travels today. At this point it is game on pending further final testing results.

Alabama's offense is so good that I honestly thought Ohio State should have gone for it on 4th and 9 from the Bama 44. Is 32 yards of field position really relevant when Alabama waltzes down the field anyway? Gotta take some chances to win this game.

That looked like a QB that hasn’t seen very much pressure.

Look, I know you want points from a drive, and that you'll have the media go after you for not getting anything from a drive, etc...But as we just saw on the following drive, you are not beating Alabama with red zone FGs. OSU needs to be assuming an Alabama TD every drive and they need to keep up. To quote the great poet Herman Edwards "YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!".

The craziest thing about Smith is he's absolutely amazing and yet still no chance he's the first WR off the board. Probably gonna see two WRs in the top 4 this year.

Nah, Fields is gonna slide on draft day and no one else is gonna reach that high. The Jets, Miami, Cincinnati, Philly, all desperately need a true #1 guy and Ja'Marr and Devonta are both special. If the Jets pass on a QB we're probably seeing WR at #2 and #3.

Can we rewind the clock a day and just put Bama in the nfl playoffs?

They’d have put up a better fight than the Steelers.

Imagine being on pace to score 34 points in the NC game and still be on pace to lose by 36.
