wranglers GDT: Dec. 14 Heat vs Texas Stars

No thread for this... but it's 1-1 in the 2nd currently. Lamb just scored to tie the game off a beautiful play by Brodie. Ruegsegger picked up the other assist.

Stars score, 2-1 Texas.

Edit: 3-1 now off a tip in front... nearing the end of the 2nd.

Texans are the far better team tonight. Heat look lost and lazy. They are actually pretty luck it is only 3-1. Took them almost half the second period to get their first shot of the period.

Will need a huge 3rd period to get any points out of this one.

And now the Heat take their 5th straight penalty. Horrible game by the Heat.

Wow, big GDT tonight haha.

Whoever Alex Chiasson is, he's destroying the Heat every shift.

Heat need to stop the bleeding!

They were such a dominant team to start the season.. They've really fallen off a cliff in the last few weeks.

Goaltending isn't winning games and the Heat aren' t scoring nearly enough. Troy G, what's the remedy?

That's easy. He goes by the name of Sven Baertschi.

I sincerely hope he isn't the lynch pin that holds this team together. Ward did an incredible job in the absence of legit top tier prospects last season, I think we should be hoping for a team solution, not just throwing Bartschi out there, he's good, but he's not a game changer just yet.

Indeed. It's no coincidence that the skid started the moment Sven left the lineup.

The problem is bigger than Baertschi being injured.

Goals were always going to be tough to come by for this club, that was already a given going into the season. While losing Baertschi is tough on the club, the number of injuries all season long has been crippling to the offense. Look at some of the returning scoring leaders from last season and look at where they are so far this season.

Krys Kolanos - 1st in team scoring, has played 13 of 25 games
Greg Nemisz - 6th in team scoring, has played 6 of 25 games
Paul Byron - 8th in team scoring, has played 16 of 25 games

Now combine that with Aliu and Bouma who were expected to have bigger roles on the club playing a combined 11 games so far and it's only natural this team isn't scoring much.

That is without even considering the increase in talent the AHL is seeing this year.
