Actually the term Virgin in this case refers to Mary being born without Original Sin, from which no one else could claim. Hence why she was the virgin Mary, Pure. It had nothing to do with sex.

I've heard that the word 'virgin' was just a mistranslation of a word meaning 'young woman'. Others have said that the temple priests had a habit of impregnating young girls, and this is where Jesus gets his royal lineage from David.
