What do you usually get at Jersey Mike's?
I had the Italian there last week and wasn't impressed.
Wished I was at Spolumbo's

I am not hoping for one in Canada, but when I used to take road trips to watch hockey games in Detroit, we used to always go to Big Boy. They had all you can eat buffets that included hamburgers. It was a good way to really stuff yourself, but also really interesting for people watching.

I had it once at YYC. Kind of average...

I wonder how much this desire for American fast food joints, not readily available in Canada, (in my case, the UK) is down to the marketing. I keep hearing about how (insert name of fast food joint, not available here) is wonderful and that we are somehow losing out.
Then, I go and try that fast food joint, and in reality, its just as crappy and full of the same type of disinterested staff as everywhere else.

I like the Jersey Shore favorite but I've also enjoyed their steak and cheese.
Reminds me of Blimpie Subs which I really liked, but pulled out of Calgary about 15 years ago.
I did try Firehouse Subs, which is another American chain that has a location in Okotoks, and it's pretty good too. But more like a Blimpie than a Jersey Mikes.

We just got one in the London area last month, the lineups were insane for the first couple of weeks but last week I finally got to try it and I don't get the hype. It was good but nothing special.

I've never been big on their deli sandwiches but I like the #26, the chicken, bacon, ranch cheesesteak.

The Jersey Mike's roast beef is pretty fantastic. I can get that on it's own or in a club supreme (with turkey and bacon). I also agree that their cheesesteaks are surprisingly good. I regularly get the Big Kahuna (grilled onions and sweet peppers, with hot peppers as well).
Blimpie's subs were ridiculously indulgent. Pillowy soft bread due to highly processed flour and very fatty cold cuts. Delicious, but would probably eventually turn you into a Blimpie.

It's funny, I was in London a few months ago and randomly went to this place called Slim Chickens I'd never heard of before and it was really good. Then I found out it's actually an American chain (though located mostly in cities I've never been to). Arguably better than Chick Fil-A yet I don't ever really hear about it.

Wow, I didn't realize they had went international. They are based out or Arkansas, so we have several over here in Tulsa. I would put it as a competitor to Raising Cane's which I saw mentioned above. It is a bit more 'southern homestyle' than most chicken places in terms of what you can get. I definitely like it and their Slim sauce, though every couple years I seem to switch between Slims and Cains as a preferred place. I feel like they are teetering on the the edge of becoming really well known as it looks like their expansion has really ramped up.
Also, related to Chik Fil A, their chicken biscuits are amazing. Often overlooked when having these conversations.

As someone living in Chick fil a country for years, I think the best thing about it is that you can always count on their locations being clean, food being consistent, and service being good. The food isn't really that exciting, but when travelling out of town for a kids tournament or whatever, it is the one place you can kind of count on for something quick that isn't going to be completely gross.

I call it the bizarro McDonald's experience. I cut them a lot of political slack because of how fantastic the service is and how it's actually pleasurable to be in the restaurant. That's something that is in extremely short supply these days. If that's what bible thumpers are bringing to the table, I can forgive a little bible thumping.

We got one here in London (Ontario) recently, haven't been yet. I tried it once several years ago in the States and recall thinking it was over rated, but the wife and kids want to check it out so I am sure we will go some time.

#9, Mike's way with no tomatoes, extra mayo and an extra container of the juice on the side for dipping!

I'm a fan of Chipotle and usually try to go there when I visit the US but I went to the one in Calgary and it was.....ok. Not bad, but absolutely not worth the lineup extending out the door. When I went it wasn't too busy but by the time I left there was a huge lineup
