I know it's CP, but not every thread needs a "well, actually" post. It's alright to just let people have their opinions sometimes.

Never cared much for Red Hot Chili Peppers but Breaking the Girl was always a good one. Had a video so maybe it was a hit, but it barely got radio play IIRC.

Radiohead - Nude
Smashing Pumpkins - Silverfata

Blind Melon...you could practically name all of their songs. My favourite is Deserted. You have to listen to the whole song, though, and the last few lines repeated are awesome.

I always thought that 5150 was a super underrated Van Halen song. Had all the best elements of that version of the band with one of Eddy's most underrated riffs and great lyrics from Sammy.

If we're still doing Elton John songs, the way this song builds makes me think it could keep going forever:

Some great suggestions so far. Silver Springs has been brought up a few times….it’s funny as the album version is just ok to me, but there's a Live version (’97) that is probably my favourite Fleetwood Mac song ever.

A few of my underrated great songs (which may or may not qualify):
Willie Nelson - Texas in my Soul
Paul McCartney - Calico Skies
Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler - There’ll be Some Changes Made (with Chet Atkins)
Taylor Swift - Mr. Perfectly Fine. Yeah, with two pre-teen daughters, Ive heard more Swift than I can handle, but I think this one is underrated.
Suede - Saturday Night
Van Morrison - Don’t Look Back (with John Lee Hooker), Scandinavia
Beatles - Sexy Sadie, Rocky Raccoon
Yoko Ono - Your Hands. Yes, I know…I hate her too, and usually her yelping is unbearable. But something about this song I like.
Deep Purple - Child in Time (Long version). Not a deep cut to fans, but considering it has one of the radest solos of all time and you never hear it anywhere, it definitely deserves more love.
George Harrison - Pretty much every song on Cloud Nine that’s not Got My Mind Set on You. Especially Just for Today, Fish on the Sand, Breath Away from Heaven.
Pulp - Babies
Beck - Guess I'm Doing Fine
Nirvana - I find the whole Incesticide album could qualify as you never hear these songs on the radio, but there’s a raw energy to them that I love (especially Sliver, Molly’s Lips, Son of a Gun, Aneurysm).
Radiohead - Thinking About You

I have been a huge Nina Simone fan since the 1980's, discovered her doing a live version of House Of the Rising Sun last year, not only the best version of the song I've ever heard, singing it from a womans point of view who had to work in the brothel adds a whole level of desperation that a male version doesnt have, but its easily one of her best songs as well

Always loved this deep cut from the Hip. Written as a tribute to Material Issue lead singer Jim Ellison who died by suicide in 1996. The two bands shared a bill one night while on tour in the States in the early 90s, and Gord Downie and Ellison apparently hit it off as friends.

The song details their short meeting and encapsulates the brief relationships that musicians make while on the road moving from town to town. Ellison obviously made a big impact on Downie. Such a beautiful song.

I’m a little partial to Aero Zepplin

This one ironically never became a hit despite its title but it’s a great song too:

Agreed. Seeing Stevie's eyes burn a hole through Lindsey Buckingham helped that live version as well.
