The lack of premium economy (at least how they worded it in the press release) is pretty unappealing to me. Besides, who wants to spend 10 hours on a narrowbody?

Nobody. Unfortunately it's being forced upon travelers (not just by AC to be fair). It may open up more routes or better frequencies but at the cost of passenger comfort. Between this and the LCC's I am not a fan of the direction air travel is taking in this country.

I'd be nice if they put them on the YHZ/YYT-LHR routes.
I also wonder if they'd use these on the YVR/YYC-EWR routes.

Does anybody know what this guy is doing? I'm watching it from my window and it looks like maybe they're gathering data of some kind but I have no idea what. It's almost 10:30 at night, so not visible light images.

Edit: aerial gas meter reading? https://www.google.com/amp/s/blog.te...%3fhs_amp=true
Cool... And somehow kind of unsettling.

They're putting the exact same business pods in these as are in the Dreamliner. So for the 14 people in business at the front with lie flat beds and a pretty much private enclosure... it makes little difference.

YYC-FRA was a regular 777 route from what I recall. Not sure if it's the case anymore.

It's all placebo. If you're in the window seat on a 9-abreast 787 it's still the same double excuse me to get out. Sure I understand people loving 2-4-2 in an A330, but when the alternative to a 321 is 9 and 10-abreast 787 and 777 with a physically smaller seat and less room, the repeated rhetoric about long haul narrowbodies holds no water.

It has never consistently been a 777, mostly 787-9 for the last 7-8 years and mostly A330 prior to that. There will be stretches of 777 again this year but still majority 787.

My anecdotal opinion is that there's way less room to stand up and stretch out on a single aisle plane. AC's 789 has a large rear galley and some actually okay sized areas around the bathrooms. It made an 11 hour flight in Economy much more tolerable when I could spend 5-10 minutes standing and stretching every so often.
Psychologically, the larger interior space also feels better to me.
