I tacked on some extra time there since I'm leaving from Cochrane. Thanks for the other route though.

Have fun! The easiest 5-6-7 hour drive you will ever do and great riding followed by another 5-6-7 relaxing non-stop&go drive back north. There was a small amount of construction near Wolf Creek earlier this year but otherwise a nice change from what we are accustomed to here. Light rain there now and +25 and sunny tomorrow. Isn't this the way good riding happens!

Helena is so much fun. Awesome people, great beer at the blackfoot, burger at the windbag (take ketchup chips for the waitress. I forget her name but her kids loved them...That is if she's still there. It's a small token.) and the trails are awesome. Have a blast.

^ I was thinking the same thing this morning as I made the turn onto the bow river pathway.

was a little frustrated when I got to work as I found out the showers were out of commission for the next few days......hopefully I don't offend my co-workers today.

I need to park my bike for an hour or so around 3:00pm year the YMCA. Are those bike racks pretty safe? I've got a U-lock and not the nicest bike on the rack.

The racks at the Y are right in front of the swimming pool windows. High viz area. Not sure if that helps? There is bike theft in the area though. I'm in the building next to the Y and we get ppl trying to follow cars in now and then.

I'm trying to avoid parking in my building that is a 15 minute walk away, but maybe that is the better option...

picked up a slab of baby wipes and a bottle of axe to use for the next few days while the office shower is down - I guess I have decided that cycling to work and getting in my miles are more important that feeling fresh

Thanks for asking!

The conditions were pure insanity! They're saying worst conditions of this event in history (20 years). 2008 was the previous worse apparently. Many described half the terrain as 4-6 inches of blended peanut butter...lol...especially over night for my first ever night ride!! Slightly better conditions in the morning.

I have to say probably the most physically draining thing I've ever done. I think I got 5 minutes of sleep total, which didn't help. Pretty mentally draining as well with the weather and conditions, but our team was stoked that we persevered.

We actually did not do it for the results (just for the challenge, something to accomplish together), but we got home and pleasantly surprised we finished in 6th place in our category (4-person team). We were tied for same # of laps as 4th & 5th place, but last lap clocked in later. We could have had 1 more lap, but after each of us did night lap, we paused because of treacherous conditions and waited 2 hrs til 6AM for next guy to go out again.

[think our Captain is signing up for another 24 hour event today for us...haha]

I haven't posted many picks yet (more to come), but a couple on Instagram if anyone interested:

I did the 2008 solo, that was awful. The start was sunny and beautiful, then a couple of hours later the rain started. I ended up walking to my truck at about 11pm and calling it a night. Trashed my knee, the bike was a mess.

Kudos for staying through the whole thing!

That's insane, Habernac!

Not sure how I managed to avoid any crashes in 4 laps I did. I crashed twice during Rundle's Revenge (50KM).
Amazingly, only mechanical issue I had was chain popping off right towards the end of my lap - popped off twice. Blobs of mud everywhere on the bike probably had something to do with it!

Yeah, it was an experience for sure. I did 6 laps I think? Was really disappointed, wanted to do twice as much.

Still disappointed. The real heroes were double digits in laps. If I ever get my stupid knee back together, I'd like to take another stab at it.
