Signing a back up is not news worthy unless it is some young phenomenon that the league is buzzing about.
Talbot is meh and his career has proven that.
Any Canadian team signing any player is news worthy.

I don't necessarily disagree with any of that, I just don't see why it was used in a roundabout way to trash Treliving for having the yearly July 1 press conference

So don't listen then. Pretty simple.
Or have a fit about it.
Your choice.

I don't get it. He's upset about too much coverage on a signing occuring one of the 2 biggest days for NHL news... yet posts on an obsessive forum dedicated to everything down to the microscopic level that happens with the team in question.

Odd dichotomy.

I feel much better about a Rittich/Talbot pairing than a Rittich/Smith one.

The guy is only 31. He had the Oilers within a hair of the conference finals. The OILERS.

He's not a 70 game starter. I am confident that Mike Smith will play more than Koskinen this year (if healthy) but I'm not as certain Rittich plays more than Talbot.

This is a player who could absolutely Dubnyk his career with us.

I thought the press conference was specifically centered around signing Talbot. If it is more about other topics, resigning Tkachuk, Rittich, Bennett, finishing first, quick exit from playoffs and Talbot is second to all that than my bad.
Geez nobody should get bashed around for thinking the Flames are making a big deal about a nothing addition.

You're forgetting......The Wolf.

Absolutely agree if any fan wants to view it tune in, if any fan think they are going to learn more than they did yesterday great if a fan thinks it's a bunch of rhetoric than that's great too.

Talbot says he doesn't know any players on the Flames. The only people he knows on the Flames are Treliving, Peters, and Sean Kelso because of the World Championships.

No, he's not. Dustin Wolf will not be playing any professional games next year unless somehow every other goalie in the Flames organization is stricken with the plague. He's 18-years-old.

The Oilers wore him out, over paid him and exposed him to nightly barrages that a Soviet General would be proud of.

I would assume that the plan is to split games at worst with Dave, or let Dave carry more of the mail.

If you can get a rested Talbot with 30 games and even pretend to play defense in front of him, this could be a good signing.

Who cares about Talbot. This team needs to add some size and grit

I heard Talbot is 6' tall and doesn't wear a mouth guard, what's the problem?

God, Derek Wills is so cringy. He's extending this interview by asking the same gd questions over and over again. Talbot is starting every answer with, "like I just said" or "I already touched on this, but"... and he just keeps going. Dear god man.

Smith is gone so Wills needs a new man-crush

Treliving had Talbot at World Championships - saw him up close (with Peters(?))

You have at least ten Calgary media members that have been there all day and need quotes for their stories or programming.

No press conference would be a big middle finger to the group.

Eric Francis @EricFrancis
Treliving: "We’re not bringing Cam in here to replace David Rittich. We’re bringing him in here to support David and we think it’s a really good fit."
