Win!!!! Wow can't believe it. We thought we were super done against an amazing powerful PP and after going down 2-1 in the series. Very close series and two OT wins to move on. Thank you OTT on a great series. Congrats on taking over a team mid season and bringing it this far.

Kings with their second upset of the playoffs. After the first two games, I thought Nashville would crush me. Good series!

At least it didn't go to the 79th overtime like the other game.

Just took a look. The difference was a PP in overtime in the 16th minute. Talk about a close game.

Dallas is the only team remaining that has won a championship, 2 years ago.

Screw trying to load up your team and aim for mediocrity instead?

Regular season standings:
Dallas 5th overall
LA 10th overall
NJ 14th overall
Wash 15h overall

I still think the Kings take it all but Dallas will be a strong match.

Not sure about the Devils or Caps (because who cares about the east) but for the Kings I feel like they had a rough start and then really turned it around. Probably one of the top 5 teams (maybe top 3) in the back 1/3rd of season (I could just be making this all up). That sim chemistry has certainly carried into the playoffs...hoping the Stars can keep pace with them.

For the most part the winners over the last few seasons have been top teams. Lots of parody (parity?) in the league. Lots of good teams.

The regular season trophy is one that you should be proud of. I don't mean that sarcastically. In many ways I view it as an equal achievement as winning the CPHL cup.

The last 1/3 of the season, the Kings were winning above .700. Once the top six started to put up points, I concentrated mostly on making moves that wouldn't upset the apple cart. The most dangerous thing that I did in the last week of the season was pick up Rickard Rackell and plug him into a top line winger role. Luckily didn't upset the chemistry, as CPHL players are notorious primadonnas.

Both LA and Dallas don't have a lot of exploitable weaknesses in their lineups, but Dallas has game breakers in Barkov and Hertl that the Kings lack. Going to need some magic.

Barkov was key for us last year. Those two-way players with high OF categories and high DF categories are critical.
My view is you need the right combination of
- A top line that produces consistently
- A #1 goalie, probably with some EX/LD higher ratings that can keep you in a series
- A blueline that has a mix of offense and defense. I think experience matters here more too
- Some forwards with both good offensive attributes and high DF ratings

Obviously not that simple, but those are some of the elements that seem to matter.

Agreed 100%. Its actually the main driver in me moving Tavares for Kopitar mid season. Lesser so, I value high DF on my bottom 6 which is why I also brought in Soderberg and Hathaway. It was another reason why I brought in Muzzin, Slavin, Skeji and Larsson so I didn't really have to worry about my back ends DF. It gave me way more options to move Fox and Dunn around with a high DF partner.

Coasted off the work of someone else to game 6 of round two. The better team won, so I can't complain about that.

Will be interesting to see if I can actually find a way to take this assetless team in a direction that I want. Gotta hope that a few of the young D-men I traded for get the re-rates that I am hoping for. If those moves pan out I have a good base to build on with Binnington (bleh) and the young guys.
