He could use a full length mirror, or a good friend

Dube needs to make it happen this coming season. Potential is great, but time to show up and make it happen a little more. I think 20 goals and 50 pts is the bar for him.

Hrudey seems to be the same.

He'll need to get top 6 minutes and PP time to reach that bar.
Expecting 20 goals and 50 points from a player who is buried on the third line without PP time is unrealistic.
Of his 32 points last year, only 3 came on the PP.

I think the three are Ruzicka, Pelletier, and MacKey. Darkhorses are Duehr and Tuuola, because Sutter likes his big roleplayers. Kirkland and Philip are both unrestricted free agents, so don't think they are in the picture. Phillips is a restricted free agent with arbitration rights, so the Flames have to make a decision on him and whether he is an NHL player. This will be one of the more interesting contracts to watch unfold with the minor leaguers.

Treliving is not the problem here.
Is he perfect? Nope
But he does a fantastic job and has shored up many weaknesses on the roster/coaching staff and seems to learn from past mistakes. Would have been done much sooner too IMO, if he had a more attractive market to work in. Do the Flames get a "sniff of the 3rd round playoffs" with Kadri and Fox on the roster?
The last two full seasons (without COVID BS) have seen his teams win the division with 107 and 111 points.

As a reminder:
This is the first time the Avs have made the third round in 20 years.

How many teams do you think actually make it to the third round in 8 years?
Maybe your expectations are out of whack?

Tre has made his share of boners but yeah, he inherited a colossal mess, with mistakes that dwarf his.
