loved the Chi Chi's. after that it was another Mexican restaurant, Gringos. the Bobs big boy was down the street by the Cheescake Factory

Good ol’ Bonzai waterslides. It’s been ages since I’ve even thought of that place.

Studio 82. Been a strip and bikin bar, now a down and out pub.

Bonzaii, owners by the Hells Angels. Open 18 days a year but remained open 10+ seasons. Zero maintenance of the park. Also an indoor mini golf was there.

Speaking of indoor mini golf, Par 57 in some semi industrial zone in the NE ring a bell? Also the mini golf and driving range on McLeod where the vacant lot is north of Superstore in Shawnessy.

Chinook Ctrain has been there over 35 years. Maclin Ford and Jack Carter right around there too, and Tradewinds Hotel, as mentioned earlier in thread.

Don’t think a Big Boy. Willys Drive in was further up McLeod, which was anA and W drive in in early 80’s maybe what thinking. Billy McIntyres before the Keg by the old Chi Chis.

Fairy tale characters, some of them, still in Lake Bonavista, though now just by the upper rink.

Henniger Toyota had the H, on the west side of Mcelod. Kept the H when the used cars stayed there and new cars were in new showroom across McLeod, but H is gone as is the used dealer.

yes Studio 82 indeed, was trying to get somebody else to remember Bob's big boy the other day but they weren't buying what I was selling

The Cheescake is the old BigBoy. Same building.

The willys was torn down became a mcdonalds. There was another willys off heritage thats now a check cashing place. I loved those fries, thick cut with the seasoning salt.

I remember fondly the Shakeys pizza, south side of bow trail by westbrook mall. Could stand and watch the guys making the pizzas.

Didn't that place also show old Disney movies? I seem to remember sleeping beauty being shown on a wall.

Willy's was right at the NE corner of McLeod and 39 Ave SE. It was torn down and there is a new professional building being built. The lot that McDonalds has it just north of the Willy's. IIRC.

I don't think it is a down and out pub.

It is the new location for the Trap and Gill, which every time I have been there is busy.

Shakey's was great. Not just the pizza, they had those tasty battered potato 'mojos.' I also remember it being extremely dimly lit, which seemed to be a late-70s thing.

Yup the Willy's were
- On 32nd Avenue by London Drugs
- On Macleod and 39th
- On Heritage where there is now a Popeye's (formerly Taco Time)
- There was also on one on 16th avenue just past 14th Street but it was the first to close
- And there was one in Red Deer

I dearly miss it. Those fries were amazing and the burgers were top notch.

I think you missed one- the Timmys on Southland and Fairmont was a Willys too!

Lots of Pinball machines there- never had great service in any of the incarnations of this bar, but the Trap is decent and the pinball machines keep me coming back.

No, we give empties to garbagemen as tips.

Not that I recall. That was Bob's Burgers, and then RL's Burgers.

Appears you are correct, it must have been a Willie's between Bob's and RL's.

347 Southland Dr SE, was indeed a Willie's at some point.

I don't recall a Willys by Fairmount and Southland, do remember the RL burger though. would be odd to have a Willys there with the heritage location so close.
