Ahhh it doesn't sound that far fetched to have someone paid off to start a fire in a vacant lot in the hopes of having a chance for a Cowboys tent.

I can confirm without a doubt the offers I and family/friends have had from crackheads and certain other social undesirables to commit arson on property owned in the Beltline. It's literally dozens and dozens of times.

We have a running joke among us all. "Joe will burn down the block for $200" "Man, I got Cliff here bugging me about bottles and can's from work here and lighting a matchstick with gasoline for $100" I'll usually counter with "Boys, we need some legit RELIABLE people here to do the deed, were talking at least $500"

Were all joking around of course but seriously what would stop a business from trying this? Like one poster said earlier, a few million dollars in revenue at stake here and the name Cowboys is literally synopsis with the Calgary Stampede and the entire "western hospitality" we sell to the hundreds of thousands of tourist who attend the event each year.

At worst your out a few hundred bucks in cash depending on who's doing the deed and how good your negotiating skills are and if your going with reliable people or not. LOL

The house occupied a very small chunk of land. If you look on Google satellite view, the house was about the same size as the entrance vestibule by the Poker Room at the Casino.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Cowboys rent that parking lot space from Impark for their tent, but the presence of that house wasn't likely a deal-breaker/maker.

Their conscience? The fact that it's a crime. WTF. What if someone was in that house and died? You think the Cowboys management just sat around a table and was like

"hey, we're going to lose our tent, what do people have for a new location?"

Senior Vice President of Events "Well, we could just burn this house down"

This is straight insane.

Plus the fact there is more open space than they needed for the tent prior to burning a house down... This makes no sense.

I am not suggesting they did this or that they or anybody else should do this. Arson is a crime as you suggested but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen and that people and business's are not motivated by money.

Insurance fraud occurs in huge amounts and I wouldn't be shocked if a business would choose to go down that route if millions of dollars are at stake.

Like I said, I didn't say or recommend a business goes go ahead and commit arson, some other speculation had happened in the thread.

Arson conspiracies aside, the CMLC owns the Enoch house lands and it’s a gravel Impark lot right next to the Gaurdian towers. Not an ideal spot for a tent.

I heard about this a couple weeks back and that the stampede aren’t exactly sorry it’s not happening this year and sponsors are spending elsewhere. Everything south of 12th is Stampede land and I doubt they want the mess that is the Cowboys tent flanking the entrance to the park.

North of 12th is privately owned and Penny Lane doesn’t have anything outside the casino anymore to attach a tent to so I am not really sure where they would go.

An investment firm can defraud it's clients for 65 billion dollars but burning down a crack house is "too unethical" for a million dollar company?

I couldn't blame them. Seriously, if you lived in Guardian, wouldn't you want to get the hell out of town for a week? I certainly would.

Considering they would have to start setting it up prior to the end of that appeal time... I don't know what the appeal process is for haha.

If you bought into the guardian and are surprised by the noise in the area, jokes on you.

AirBnB your Condo and you get a free vacation out of the deal.

As long as you're not overly bothered about what happens to your home in the meantime...

Tent vacated by 1:00am that sucks. Last call will be before 11:00 I would guess since music turns off at 12 I am assuming that is when they would start kicking people out.
