With that being said, I'm looking forward to seeing some hockey at the Nich. It's been years since that arena has been full for hockey and that atmosphere should be intense.
This weekend I was in Taber at the arena and a guy I know was there too, he said he was glad the Hurricanes didn't look farther into usigg that crappy arena. He is a manager at City Hall so I asked him if he knew about this process. Somebody from City Facilities looked at the events calendar, saw no events booked and confirmed that the Enmax Centre was available. They didn't talk to either the Hurricanes or the Enmax Centre. Enmax centre was extremely mad at the City over this. They both could have caused a bigger commotion over this but chose to not look like the bad guys.

All the eastern playoff teams are set but only two match ups are.

PA will host Red Deer
Blades will host Moose Jaw

Lethbridge could still host either Calgary or Med Hat
Same with the Oil Kings.

Anything can happen but I'm fully expecting a PA vs Saskatoon and Oil Kings vs Hurricanes 2nd round.

Kelowna and Kamloops have to play a tiebreaker game on Tuesday for the last playoff spot in the BC division/Eastern Conference.

Nice to see Jake Elmer awarded with a NHL contract. A real glue guy with great character.

Whew. Canes win game 1 in overtime vs the Hitmen.

Hitmen remind me of the Pats a few years ago when they were a young up and comer wild card team on the verge of being a top team.

Hitmen had an excellent last 2/3 of the season but their record with the division was awful. Curious to see if the rest of the series is fairly low scoring, I am expecting a lot more goals to be scored.

The playoff format is garbage, broken, whatever you want to call it. The Giants on paper appear to have a harder matchup being 1st in BC division than the 2nd place team.

Format is the same as the NHL uses if I am not mistaken. And probably makes more sense for junior hockey to use as it helps keep travel manageable for the most part.

The Giants stomped Seattle 7-1 last night so they seem to be alright playing an arguably better team than Kamloops. They also benefited all year by being by far the best team in what was easily the weakest division in the WHL

Tigers steal home ice with a 2-1 game 1 win in Edmonton on the back of Mads Sogaard.

Canes, Raiders and Blades all hold serve and go on the road up 2-0 in their respective series.

Would LOVE to see a Tigers vs Canes 2nd round.

He was, but two 3rd period goals from the OKs sees them tie up the series. OK fans must be relieved.

We are. We’ve outshot them almost 2-1 and that goalie has been outstanding.

I'm thinking about heading to the game tomorrow. Can you just pay at the door ? Or is it better to buy some on Ticketmaster

Which game? Tigers / OKs?

They aren't sold out very often so you could probably buy at the door no problem. I'm a ticketmaster guy though myself, because then you can look at a seat map, see whats available and pick your spot.

Go to the Off Topic Forum and use the Friends of the Hitmen code for cheap tickets. Lower bowl for $17. Cheaper than any Canes game. A

In hockey news, Canes will not have Shepard or Mahovlich for game 3 after the dust up in the last 5 minutes of game 2.

Tough loss for the Canes last night. The slow start killed them. I didn't foresee a sweep, however they were flat. Here is to hockey on the west side of the city on Saturday now!

Also, big win for Medicine Hat. I did not see a 5-0 trouncing coming but MH might be getting hot at the best possible time.

I won't lie, before the series started, I was hoping it wouldn't be a sweep by the Oil Kings. If the Tigers can win game 4, it will really put the heat on Edmonton.
