15 minutes is half a sitcom. If you can drive over a screaming animal for 15 minutes and not understand why that's wrong, you're a goddamn psychopath.

From experience, I lived in a small town and came across an injured deer in a street. I walked to the fish cop’s house and informed him and within minutes the deer was put down. Pretty simple process.

In what world does that even sound like a good idea?

Have him clean up roadkill for a few years as punishment if they won't fire him. Just an amazingly poor lack of judgment, I understand that if he only had a handgun he couldn't euthanize the deer with that, but he also had a phone he could have called Fish & Wildlife to come and handle it, or another officer who had the right weapons.

A bunch of cops on reddit said there is no paper work involved. That would be the world's lamest excuse anyway. Should have just tazed it or pepper sprayed it to death.

One time when I was a kid the old man and I came upon a deer that had been hit and was suffering. He put that thing out of it's misery with his bare hands. Cop should know better

I’m not sure what they’re like outside of this incident, but this is a person that needs to take a good long break from society and get some sort of training in humanity. I guess it might be excusable if he was so distraught he wasn’t thinking straight, I could see that, but there’s no other way to understand his actions. Just disturbing.

I decided I didn't want to see the video.
if a hurt deer made him so distraught he forgets all his training and does something that stupid, he shouldn't be on the force. it would be a kindness to him to let him go.
cops face stressful situations on a regular basis. how could you trust him to properly discharge his duties? imagine being a cop and finding out he's your new partner and that's the guy that is supposed to have your back?
I just don't get his thinking. I'm a total city kid and never been a hunter or done much work with animals. Even I know how idiotic and cruel the cops was. I can't wait to learn more about what the heck he was thinking.
someone mentioned that maybe he only had his sidearm. doesn't every cop vehicle also have a shotgun or something in it?

Ummmm that would be less humane than running it over since pepper spray isn't exactly lethal.

Yeah. Got that. I was just going through scenarios equally stupid as running it over to death.

Wow. That is just....
I hope they take the cost of repairs to his cruiser out of his salary as a consequence of being an idiot.
I hope he was just trying to be compassionate and put it out its misery and pain, but this is just stupid.
Was it Farva?
