Pride Parade Parking
Morning All,
Our crew will be walking in the Pride Parade tomorrow with my work. We initially had planned to use the c-train, but it sounds like there may be closures between southland and erlton? I am also slightly concerned how tired the two kids will be after all the hooting and hollering and walking, so maybe parking closer to downtown will be a better solution. Any tips or recommendations for parking spots that will be somewhat close to the parade route but not close enough to be a traffic nightmare (I know, probably not possible but worth a try!).

I believe street parking is free downtown on sundays. Just find a spot and walking over is what I am thinking about doing if we head down with our little guy

The entire Beltline is a parking zone. You’ll find a spot.

During Pride? I wouldn’t bet on that, it will be crazy busy.

Then I don’t know man. If the entirety of parking lots, street parking and parkades around the entire inner city will be full then one should just take the bus.

We were talking beltline, not the entire inner city. Maybe you are right and there will be plenty of parking.

Well they said they were coming from the south and the parade is on 9th Ave so aiming for somewhere around 10th/11th/12th Ave would be most convenient as the first target. There is oodles of parking.

Last year there were lots of parking spots within a couple blocks of the route. I guess if you’re parking right near the starting point it might be trickier finding a primo spot.

What are the crowds like for watching the parade? I'm meeting friends downtown for lunch, so thought I would go early to watch. Probably somewhere near the National Music Centre (so near the end).

Obviously too late to help anyone this year, but might help in future years if this thread is searched.
Parking was no issue at all and I was very glad we decided to drive down. We found parking on 11th Ave just a few blocks from where our float was. The parade route was way busier than I expected, which was awesome. I’d say some busier spots were two three people deep, but seemed like there was lots of space if you walked a block or two to a less busy section. We made it about half way through the parade route before the ones with little legs tired out and the ones with longer legs were not ready to be carrying anyone. Biggest lesson learned was the walk back to our parking spot was not super enjoyable, so we’d plan accordingly next year.

Happy Pride to my fellow Calgary Puck folk. For those who made it to the parade, I hope you enjoyed it. Klapka marched with the Wranglers and he is…very, very tall.

That’s funny you say that…my wife asked me a moment ago if I saw the massive human that our little guy gave a flag to. Apparently he had a super model-esque female partner with him. She figured it had to be one of the Flames or Stamps. Off to google to get a pic and see if it was him.

Damn it, those photos look great. Every year I tell myself I'm gonna go but get distracted by other stuff and never plan for it. Next year for sure.
