Default Kacz Kids is Closing

Kacz Kids store near Ikea is closing. It has been open for over 30 years.

Their big sale is on Friday. Great time to buy any kid stuff on sale.

I heard this on the radio today.... all of their media says "Deerfoot Meadows Store Closing". Does this mean they are closing for good or opening a different store.

Owner is a member on Beyond, he's a great guy.

The article just say that location is closing and they have something planned for 2020. Hopefully that it means business is alright

A great store that I tried to throw as much business to when I could get out of the house.

Competition has really heated up in the space though - Westcoast Kids, Buy Buy Baby all really dialed up the game in the sector locally. Toss in on-line retailing and it was a squeeze play.

I suspect if they are still trying to make a play for 2020 it'll be an online based store....

I fondly remember shopping there for new clothes for the new school year in elementary, although that was back when it was up on McLeod between Southland and heritage.
I didn't realize it was still around!

I vividly remember the location on Macleod Trail having a massive ball pit in the left corner. As a kid, the store seemed gigantic. Sorry to see it go.

Hmm. I remember being so excited to go there when I was a kid and then finally after driving past it a million times we finally got to stop. I fully expected oompa loompas to hand out sugar filled hoola hoops upon arrival. I was so upset to find out they sold car seats and strollers and mommy gear. It was pretty much the biggest retail fraud in the history of the world at that time. It's funny because they've been hugely successful and a wonderful local business but the 9 year old in me wants nothing more than to slam the doors on their failing enterprise.

Very tough times for retail these days, especially mom and pop shops.

I went in there once and found them to be expensive (as expected) compared to some of the bigger chains and of course the on-line retailers.

This is a very tough retail segment as well as the used market is amazing for kids things.

Pretty much. You can go on eBay/Kijiji and buy a literal first full year of kids clothes used for 100 bucks.

Well other than onesies, since they will inevitably get pooped on/in.

I just drove by and there’s a huge lineup so don’t go down there unless you’ve got time to kill.
