Kensington store secures 2 bottles of scotch....$140,000 each and they are yours!
Quote:
Kensington Wine Market has acquired two of the 250 available bottles of Gordon and MacPhail Generations 80-year-old.
The scotch was distilled on Feb. 3, 1940, at the Glenlivet Distillery in Scotland and aged in an oak sherry cask from Spain. It was bottled 80 years later, in 2020.
Gordon and MacPhail brought in British architect and designer Sir David Adjaye to design a crystal cask to serve as the bottle, and a wooden box to display it in.
The first bottle sold at a Sotheby’s auction house in Hong Kong for about C$230,000. The remaining 249 bottles are selling for C$140,000.

Given the price of scotch lately, this seems like a bargain.

No it wasn't.
Also does anyone want some premium scotch for $100 000 a bottle? I got a couple at home.

It was a joke, implying I broke into it and stole the very expensive bottles of scotch :P

I don't get the whole scotch thing. I tried it a couple of times and thought it was disgusting.

Probably some low-rent 79 year-old scotch.

I used to attend tastings semi-regularly, but the first few times always caught me off guard with some of the tasting notes... The most memorable was something along the lines of "notes of freshly painted hospital", which is odd, yet strangely descriptive haha

I don’t mind the idea of crazy rich people spending a bunch of money on something like this. In the end it’s a big sale for a couple businesses (liquor stores and scotch maker). And something that can only be made by them, that has spent almost a century being crafted, and there will only ever be one. It’s like a work of art, but it’s finite. Kinda cool.

You basically need to buy both of them, so you can crack one and enjoy that purchase. It's like I try to explain to my wife...one to stock and one to rock! (which she scoffs at and tells me is the dumbest saying ever)

Party at Slava's house!
I'd have to nurse that scotch to drown my sorrows after being divorced because I took out a mortgage for two bottles of Scotch.
Can you make that last 25 more years?
