A couple of years ago one of my old foster kids asked if I could help him move his girlfriend out of her 'apartment' in Chinatown, I roll up to the place, its apparently advertised to young tech developers as an ideal place to live close to SFU's downtown campus, I took some pleasure in telling her it used to be one of the DTES worst SRO hotels and that the room she was moving out of was rented before by a heroin addict I worked with a few years before who ripped off his drug dealer and was subsequently thrown of the third floor balcony into the back alley below, as we were standing looking over the balcony onto the grimy alley below it freaked her out some, she was paying over a 1000 a month for a single room with a toilet
