indeed so. even the relay bronze- nothing DeGrasse does will get completely lost in the shuffle-but although it might not feel as awesome ( I think gold was in the end possible for them- although full props to Italy) medalling in the mens 4x100 is always massive , just look at who didn't get one
Totally. And while I was happy the CBC commentator actually discussed the excitement and novelty of the Italians winning gold and not just focusing on a Canadian bronze, I found it odd he didn't bother mentioning if Canada had even medalled or not in a tight finish for what felt like almost a full 5 min afterwards.
Just sitting there listening to him go on and on about the Italians and Britain losing it down the stretch, meanwhile we're all sitting there with baited breath waiting to hear if the Canadians even medalled or not. Just seemed weird given it was the freakin CBC telecast lol

that was the international feed I think (or maybe US - I don't really know whose feed that was) or at least I think that is what you were referring to (the live feed shown while soccer was on). I haven't seen Canada's call yet myself

I'll give CBC a break here since it was the international feed on the initial call but yeah really weird they ignored Canada there. To me anyway it seemed clear Canada got it as well. But this is how Mark Lee called it:
Ahh fair enough, if that's what happened, it makes more sense. The PBP guy was obviously British, but I figured he was just hired by CBC for this. When he finally mentioned "...oh and the Canadians did get the bronze" I thought I heard the colour guy chuckle, which I interpreted as "haha yeah, you should prob mention that on CBC..." and thought I remembered it as the color guy sounding Canadian...but I was also exhausted and woke up from my alarm literally 5 min before that race & still shaking the cobwebs out, so I may just be misremembering it.
Either way it's fine, and understandable why someone clearly from the Isles himself would be so focused on Britain's outcome, but it just seemed weird on what at least appeared to be the CBC telecast...I was like "JUST TELL US ALREADY!!!" hahaha

Someone tell Donald that the team that won made history as they placed a gold medal around the neck of a trans non-binary person for the first time. He might have a heart attack and the world would be a better place.

Interesting that the 4x100 relay time was 0.01 slower than the gold medal winning time in 1996. Surprising how things have changed since that Canadian group won by a ton.

Ato Boldon has been doing color on the US telecast, and I’ve heard him before in several other televised meets.
Probably the best color guy of any sport I’ve listened to, right there with Romo. So knowledgeable of all the athletes and the sport and a great broadcast voice too.
