I enjoyed it. Interesting characters already. Will be fun to see how the plot unfolds.

Fun set up episode to the season. All 3 cops look like they're on the cusp of an epic meltdown.

Great first episode, really looking forward to it.

Still not sold on Vaughn as a casting choice. Seemed very wooden to me. Watch his eyes, they barely move. The other actors eyes are expressing, darting. Hands moving.

Perhaps it's his character. The others had a lot of drama going on. Maybe he'll get to exercise his chops yet. Prove me wrong Vince!

But all I could think of watching him was how he was in one of his other dramatic roles, funny enough, a cop.. The Cell. Passable, but not interesting in the slightest.

Love me some Rachael. Happy to see her shed the goody two shoes or girlie roles she's know for. Loved her flipping off the casino staff.

Matthew had several decent dramatic roles before that. Mud comes to mind. I'm sure there were others. He was decent in Contact.

That said, Vince probably had many I'm forgetting or don't know about. Still, the few I've seen him in I'm not sold. We'll see. I want to like him.

The fact that A Time To Kill hardly ever gets mentioned when discussing his roles is a shame, anyone who watched that wouldn't have been surprised to see McConaughey's rise to A-list actor

For me, the first season doesn't give this one a pass. The premiere was odd and quite disappointing. Even pretentious comes to mind.

Compared to last season, this episode falls short.

But in a vacuum, it was a decent first episode.

I fully expect it to get much better in the next couple of episodes.

It's too early to judge as the first episode was all introductions, but I liked it and thought it was well done.

I will say though Vaughn's line "Never do anything out of hunger ... even eating" was probably the cheesiest I've heard in a while.

I kind of wish the episode started when there was about 5-10 minutes left. Still, I'm on board to see where this season goes.

So Rachel McAdams character was talking about anal at the beginning of the episode right?

Anyways I'm pretty amazed that they found the one suburb in southern California that has nothing but white people in it. It was ok for the first episode but it feels like Rachel and Colin Farrell are going to carry this season acting wise. Vince Vaughn is playing Vince Vaughn, and Taylor Kitsch is...Taylor Kitsch.

Thought Vaughn was fairly poor throughout.

Overall enjoyed the first episode. Watched season one as well binge so hard to remember what I thought after the first episode then.

I kind of think Vaughn's character (Semyon? Still getting used to the names) is just showing a front with a very thin veneer right now. I expect/hope he'll get a little more real and desperate as events unfold. But maybe not.

Was Ani (McAdams) being kicked out of Semyon's casino at the end right when everyone got the call about the city manager's body?

I liked this review.

I seem to remember S1 having a slow build through the first few episodes as well.

It looks like it's based on Vernon, one of those small industrial cities near central LA that have low population. But there are plenty of all white suburbs in LA, especially along the coast. US cities are really segregated.

Im pretty sure it was a differnet casino.

I liked the episode, but it did feel like more of teaser for the rest of the season. Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave and all the overpass shots helped.

Not too bad. Sticking with the theme of damaged people in a damaged world.

Not a bad first episode. One thing is for sure though, the intro for season one was superior.

Yeah, that's the only problem I have with this show.
