Agreed. Used OEM wheels will cause way less issues than cheap aftermarket. Hell, I made the mistake of spending a decent amount on some Work wheels back in the day, and they bent like crazy and would vibrate like crazy in the rain until they stuck a rubber squeegee thing on the valve stem to counteract it.
Picked myself up a little beater pickup truck. Mission: from headed to scrap to fully functional runabout on a worn-out shoe string budget. If it’s safety critical it’ll be fixed or parked, but other than that it’ll be fun exercise.
That’s all

You are the vaugest vaugeposter who ever posted. Posts in the vehicle thread about buying a vehicle and doesn't even post what it is, let alone a picture. SHAME.

I wouldn’t know how to post a picture on here if my life depended on it.
It’s a 94 long box F150 anyhow. Somewhere between looking like it used to be taken care of and rust bucket. Makes me smile and will haul a pallet of drywall home, all that really matters at this point

I've been slowly restoring my truck during Covid. Doing rockers and cab corners once I get a gas bottle for my welder. Rock Auto for mechanical parts and partshub.ca for body stuff has been my go to.

Nice, before they went with the ugly body redesign.

Not to Cliff Clavin up the thread, but isn't a lift of drywall potentially 5000lbs??

Brutal, but pretty justified from all accounts. The cost-cutting is apparent everywhere you look (and probably even more so in places you can't see), and the digital dashboard is a total disaster. At least if they kept it looking great, but it even looks uglier now that they gave it the Neanderthal forehead. The GTI was always such a sharp looking car, this just doesn't do it for me at all.

This is why I say prospective owners should wait for MK8.5. I think VW has heard the criticisms and will make improvements. It's the worst interior I can remember in a VW product as this car resembles the 2012 Civic in that got trashed for cost cutting.

Wow, that digital dashboard/infotainment system sounds abysmal. He succinctly summarizes why no tactile buttons is such a terrible direction to be heading in.

Can anyone suggest a good body shop? Newish Toyota with bumper damage.
Maranello Auto Refinishing and Cosmos Collision have both done excellent work for me over the years. They focus primarily on German vehicles and higher end stuff but I did see some Japanese cars getting work done at Maranello a few months ago.

Augie's paint and body on 36th Ave NE did a great job on our newish sedan earlier this year. I was surprised how low the price was as well compared to the other quote we had, and service was very good.

Maranello focuses on newer imports (typically less than 10 years old) which includes Japanese vehicles... Gerry used to do some specialized domestic stuff back in the day as well. My money would be spent at Maranello all day, every day, given the choice. There is good reason Gerry/Sylvio are trusted to work on the vast majority of exotic cars in Western Canada. They also convey that quality workmanship to all the vehicles they work on, be it a Toyota or Hyundai.
