Well the thing about WvW and the beauty of GW2 is that you can walk up anywhere, start on the objective and you are technically a part of the group.
Groups are pretty dynamic in their ability to form. Once you look at your global map and see an objective being taken or attacked, people usually rush to defend it. All the sudden you've got 10-20 people who then go decide to take something else, etc, etc.
Also when doing WvW, you can get a commander icon (purchasable with enough gold) and turn it on. Which anyone in the entire zone can see. Our guild got one for our raid leader which was extremely helpful for capturing objectives or forming a group.
It is also a pug magnet. Still a little questionable how those will go @ release, since I am not sure if there is a limit, certain people can have it, etc. Good idea, but we'll see.

Watching some of these videos I get a big reminder of UO in the sense of timing for PvP. In UO, being good came down to just being able to time your combos and know when was the right time to use what ability. Pretty simple in theory, and the players that understood it could handle 2-3 guys at once, and win. This game seems to be very similar to that with fewer WoWlike I win buttons.
Yep, this is true.
My only beef with the system however is how you design your template, gear, etc - for the most part if you are in a larger group, you want to have your abilities reflect that. For example the Staff specced elementalist is largely an AoE specialist with minimal duelist capabilites. But in large group combat, this is exactly what you need. You've got everything from AoE slows to Stun fields to AoE Movespeed buffs to AoE Damage.
If you wanted to 1v1 or 1v2 and straight out kill someone you'd have to swap to dagger/dagger or scepter/dagger set ups - change your skill layouts and your armor runes. In this situation, you'd die with the AoE template.
You have to be out of combat to change skills / weapon sets, athough it is pretty easy to do.
You just can't swap it out on the fly as of yet or anything - I can see why they are doing it, but it can be a little frusterating unless you are totally prepared for it.
Just over a week away, which conveniently falls in line with my vacation time... no relation. Going to go with a Mesmer and Guardian to start as those were the two classes I enjoyed most during beta and stress tests and had the most fun with in sPvP.
Mesmer in 1v1s is lot of fun to play with clones, phantasms, invis, and blinking around giving the other player a headache most times. Didn't care for fighting necros with condition damage too much though.
Did not have any success creating any Sylvari Mesmer that didn't look absolutely ridiculous, that's about the only complaint from me.
Hrmm interesting.. think I might give an Elementalist a go today.

A nice video detailing the basic economic system in GW2.
Also, for the server thing, for an indefinite amount of time you'll be able to switch server-to-server for free until they get the guesting system up and running. Guesting won't be available at launch. So if you want to join a server, then jump over to a different one a day or two later, I think it will be fine.

By join you, do you mean you'd have a power house guild we can leach benefits off of?

The only thing I'm worried about when joining servers with these huge guilds is if they've created alliances and are looking to block people out of WvWvW that aren't part of those giant guilds. I've read that this is something some big guilds are looking to do. If you aren't part of those giant guilds, good luck playing WvWvW with your guild of direct friends without queuing up for awhile first.

Can you elaborate on this HP, I have not heard anything about this.. I was under the assumption that the World vs. World was like The Frontiers in DAoC. You just zone in and run around looking for fights and sieging towers.
There is a limit to the number of ppl that can be involved at one time?

Haha, well I posted a link to the guild I am a part of for GW2 - Team Legacy (I am not the leader). But even if you aren't interested in joining, there is always a benefit from rolling on the same server as us.
That Economy video posted above was created by us - we have some fantastic people with a lot of knowledge in the guild too.
Anyone is more than welcome to apply, especially if you have previous MMO PvP experience.
