A big deal was made about Gondek not releasing her donor list on reddit (Even though to my knowledge, nobody else had yet either)
Well yesterday she did.

Possibly, I just remember all the Farkas supporters losing their minds and bringing it up for a week after the fact and reminding everyone that she'll never release her donors, and now she's the first to do it.
I'm no hardcore Gondek supporter or anything, I'd never heard her name before this election, I just enjoy watching a politicians fan club look dumb

The Calgary donor list is always funny. Everyone wants to see it to see if they are in the pocket of builders. Then the donor lists get released and every builder has donated to every party because why wouldnt they?
Meanwhile PACs have made their way over the border without much of a huff over their inherent issues

I agree, I mean I'm all for releasing the donor lists and transparency, but when you look at them they don't tell you much, especially with the ban on corporate donations. Knowing who is funding all the PACs would be much more informative.

Sure, he doesn't "hate" anyone. He just verbally threatens, attacks, and belittles others who don't agree with his racist, extremist views. But he doesn't hate them.

I bet he’s mad his BFFs put in the mask mandate provincially. I’m sure he was licking his chops to faux outrage and vote against the city mask mandate which was likely coming. The other good candidates need to do a runoff between themselves ahead of the election and all but the winner drop out so there is one option against ####us. I figure the vote split is going to let that weasel get in.

So... Paul Hallelujah did an AMA on Reddit today and it went about as you'd expect before the mods decided to shut it down for covid misinformation.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Calgary/com...allelujah_ama/
Like Gondek, he made the critical mistake of ignoring questions about his donor list, but somehow I suspect that gets overshadowed with, you know, aliens from Saturn not only ending Covid but also giving us immortality.

Hello Mr Hallelujah,
Your platform says that you plan to do away with all forms of taxation at every level of government. Am I correct to understand that that includes federal and provincial taxes? If so, what are the logistics around that plan? How do you plan to block federal and provincial taxes?

Mayoral Candidate
Superb question. I could use help with this. Let me know if you have ideas. paulmichael@gmail.com

This is my favourite. "Your platform says this, how do you plan to implement it?"
"I really have no idea, but if you have any, I could really use them". Top notch politicking.

Funny that will be a more honest answer than many will say..
I am guessing if you ask many of the candidates how they are going to reduce taxes.. you are going to hear them say we will find efficiencies, then when asked further they won't be able to answer in any detail.
Not saying there is no opportunity out there... I have emailed people running in my ward and have heard really no good answer.

Asking candidates how they’ll reduce taxes is the wrong question. First, they’ll pander to you while knowing they have no such power, not even the mayor. Second, reducing or even holding the line on taxes requires service cuts. I don’t want service cuts, but want to know that my city is trim and efficient. My city recently completed a service review to become more efficient that saved the equivalent of about 3% on taxes. Ask about that but know that your candidates have no authority to do that either.
