icon57 Flames vs Bruins, 2:00 PM MST. Sportsnet West, Fan 960

Well, if there's an upside to Saturday's stinker it's that Boston had a bad night, too. The Bruins come to visit in a rare afternoon tilt at the 'Dome. The Flames look to bring the home record up to snuff and avenge last week's loss in Boston.

Some game-day info (www.calgaryflames.com)

Quote:
The Bruins opened a five-game road trip with a 6-1 loss to the Canucks on Saturday night. Loui Eriksson, Daniel Sedin, Bo Horvat and Sven Baertschi all scored to give the Canucks a 4-0 lead after 20 minutes and chase Bruins starter Tuukka Rask, who allowed four goals on eight shots. Nic Dowd made it 5-0 in the second before Tim Schaller got the Bruins on the board in the third frame. Eriksson added his second of the night with a shorthanded tally to round out the scoring. Anton Khudobin made 13 saves on 15 shots after starting the second period in place of Rask, while Anders Nilsson made 44 saves to earn the win for Vancouver … Vancouver did not have a man-advantage all game but held the Bruins goal-less on five powerplay opportunities … The Bruins gave up six goals in regulation for the first time since Oct. 11, when they lost their third game of the season 6-3 to Colorado.

This is the second and final regular-season meeting between the two teams after the Bruins won a 5-2 decision over the Flames last Tuesday in Boston. Sam Bennett and Gaudreau, with his 19th of the season, gave the Flames a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes before the Bruins scored four unanswered goals. Riley Nash and Bergeron each had a pair of tallies and Zdeno Chara added an empty-netter while Tuukka Rask made 28 saves. Rittich finished with 35 saves for the Flames. Gaudreau, Bennett, Matt Stajan (1A), Garnet Hathaway (1A) and Mark Giordano (1A) share the team lead with a single point each against the Bruins this season. Bergeron, Nash and David Backes (2A) are tied with two points apiece as Boston's points leaders against the Flames … The Flames went scoreless on five powerplay opportunities while the Bruins went one-for-four on the man-advantage.

The Bruins have not dropped consecutive games since losses to the Capitals and Rangers back on Dec. 14 and 16. Boston is now 6-2-0 in the month of February ...The Flames have six powerplay goals on 25 chances (24%) over their last five games ...Travis Hamonic will play his 500th regular-season game on Monday. The 27-year-old defenceman has 27 goals and 154 points over eight seasons with the Flames and Islanders.

lineups (www.dailyfaceoff.com), subject to change:

An angry Bruins team, versus a Flames team that struggles at home for some reason..... I fear this will not go well.....

Afternoon matinee at home? And the opposing team got their ass kicked in the last game?

While I will always cheer for the good guys, I don't expect anything less than a total blowout for the Bruins. Not much confidence in a home win. Please prove me wrong. One win in the last seven at home.

I hear Chucky does not like Mondays and likes Monday afternoons even less.
Expect a feisty Tkachuk this afternoon.

There is no reason to expect a Flames win today, which is precisely why they'll win it. Of course.

Flames have stagnated since their last winning streak ended. This is a tall task facing a superior opponent with their home ice disadvantage but a loss today and they start to fall off the pace with a below .500 record in their last ten games.

If the Canucks can beat them 6-1, anyone could beat them. Well, maybe not the Oilers.

Afternoon game at home against an elite team who got spanked in their last game? Yikes. This one's gonna be ugly.

I'm hoping for a win of course, but I'm certainly not expecting one.

Is this game on Sportsnet west?

I don’t see it in my Telus Guide, and the App says it only on NESB and NHL Netwoek in the US.... what gives??

Yeah, Telus guide shows the Canada/OAR womens semi-final on SNW at 2pm. Likely a mistake. Will have to just wait and see what gets broadcast.

Bruins lost last game - bad for the Flames, Bruins will be mad.
Flames lost last game - bad for the Flames, Flames always lose in the afternoon or something. (I think they won their last one but whatever).

Am I doing this right?
