Montreal offered to host the Houston Dallas series, that eventually went to Tampa Bay. The average attendance was 5000 per game.
They again offered to host the New York Tampa series, which is going to go to New York instead.
The reason the MLB cited, was that there were more hotel rooms to work with in NY.
I doubt Montreal ever gets the Expos back. The specter of Selig is still strong at the MLB offices.

On short notice, none of those guys would even have had their passports with them. The logistics of hosing a series on no notice in an entirely different country are not simple, so I would not read anything into MLB choosing to stay closer to home for these series.

Yeah if Montreal isn't in a different country it's a lot easier to make it work.
On another note. Cleveland wins game 20 in a row. Ties Oakland for longest modern era winning streak.
Been a season where teams have relied on long runs of domination. First it was Houston, than the Dodgers went crazy, now it's Cleveland. I hope the tribe isn't peaking too early. I'd like to see them get their World Series this year.

If wiki is correct the longest ever streak, not just modern era, is only 21 games held by two teams.
The most impressive thing is they've really just been dominating teams, that Oakland run had some really dramatic moments but the Indians are +102 runs in this stretch which is insanity.

I figured they would take a big step back this year. They have truly been wrecking teams lately. Hopefully they didn't get hot too soon and fizzle in the POs
Hell of a streak for Cleveland, pretty remarkable the ovation that they got following the game. Glad that the fans appreciate how special that run was.
