He was a troubled man, his troubles are now ended.
RIP Matthew Perry
I didn't follow him after Friends ended because I generally don't care about celebrities and what they are/aren't doing but I saw him on Bill Maher's show about a year ago and I was shocked by how destroyed his life was and how things spiralled out of control for him.
We haven't been anywhere near cell reception/a wifi connection all weekend, so only heard about this, late this afternoon. Matthew Perry has always been a favorite, even in the groaner movies he made.
RIP, Miss Chanandler Bong.

Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I'm Mattman
I’m glad he was able to publish his memoir last year and be frank about his struggles. He fought many demons and this book can hopefully be of comfort to those that suffer with addiction. Even people we idolize as rich and famous can stumble and get sucked into a dark place. Hopefully his experience can loosen the stigma of addiction and let others know it’s okay to seek help and be vulnerable.
In his book he talks about being very sick at one point and slipping into a coma with a 2% chance of survival, in other words the Hail Mary play. To me it seems like he was given a second chance to share his experience with the world and be a platform to those suffering with similar problems.
Perry said he will always be remembered first and foremost for his time on Friends (and credit to him for being a talented actor) but he would like to be remembered for so much more - such as helping others in need. I truly believe him sharing his struggles will accomplish that dream and hopefully save the life of someone struggling with pain and addiction.
RIP

I always liked him, and in the 90's I liked Friends.
I knew he had troubles but I didn't know how bad they were, and how early they started, until his book came out.
He fought them the best he could but looks like the toll they took on his body was too much.
The pubs in Tir na nOg will be even livelier tonight
They sure will. He'll be keeping it well lit with Ronnie and Sinead and many many others.
Knew this day was coming but still saddened at the loss. A true legend that created a new genre of music. Privileged to have seen him many many times between pubs, venues and festivals.
And when I'm dead don't bother me, just dig me a 6-ft hole.
With a candle at my head and feet, and a jar of alcohol
RIP Shane.
