So with the reveal of GTA V last week, we are now 11 hours away from the first trailer. I thought I'd make a thread as this game is obviously going to be huge and the discussions of the trailer will surely be large.
What are people hoping for?
I'm hoping for a more San Andreas/Vice City style of game where there are more RPG elements. Also, bring back the crazyness like you started to do with Ballad of Gay Tony.
I'm fine with a present day L.A., but one thing I ask (aside from no more of those friends-type missions like in IV that nearly ruined it for me) is to keep some good surrounding rural areas like in San Andreas. Said this in the video games thread, after seeing what they did with the topography in RDR, I'd love to see them build on this in GTA V. Maybe the Joshua Tree area?
I'm sick as a dog so will be home today for the unveiling, I'm pumped about that part anyway. My all-time favourite non-sports game. Been so excited that I dusted off the PS2 and been playing San Andreas in anticipation for this.
Actually tried Vice City first, it hasn't aged well. That soundtrack still rules though. I'm sure it won't happen but I'd gladly take an updated 80's Vice City.
What are we looking at as far as release date goes?

That green, dollar-patterned "V" looks kind of "Vegasy". I think I might spend this weekend trying to complete GTAIV. Hard to finish it when you just like wandering around the city trying to find a motorbike to race around with.

Sounds like it'll be awesome, a lot larger than I was expecting. I'd imagine it'd have lots of rural areas too, I like it.
May wanna mention how that link actually gives away the ending of the game though, I really wish I hadn't read that last part. I thought it was just spoilers on the setting, not the actual ending of the game itself. That kinda sucked.
Looks pretty good, I imagine the gameplay will look similar, but some actual action would have been nice. I hope it goes back to a play style similar to vice city or san andreas. GTA IV was pretty, but I couldn't get into it like I got into the other games. They went to close to realism in my opinion. I loved in GTA 3 going on a rampage and taking a lot to be taken down. GTA V you got looked at funny by a cop and you were toast. Really wrecked the whole 'sandbox' nature of things. The free roaming nature of san andreas would definitely be fun again, I do hope they go back to 80's Miami at some point again. I loved the way Vice City played, the look, the music, favourite part was all the sub missions based on the businesses. I beat the main story but all the business missions kept me going for a long time. The porn studio was especially BA. Regardless, I'll probably get this game, hopefully play it more than I did GTA V.
Meh..hate it when trailers don't show any actual gameplay footage. Cut scenes look great, but most games have great cutscenes these days.
It's the actual game engine rendering everything (albeit, that's the PC version at max settings most likely).
There's no reason to assume gameplay will look any different. We all know what GTA gameplay is about. You're going to run around, steal cars, shoot people. It's not going to change. Just the story.
My only hope is that the guy who made the first person mod for GTA IV ports it over to GTA V. That mod changed the game for me and let me experience the world from the eyes of the character and explore the city in a way I couldn't in 3rd person.
