Beyond playing a vital role on a Flames penalty killing unit that ranks third in the American Hockey League, Maki has scored five times in seven post-overtime shootout opportunities.

That ties a host of others for second-most shootout goals in the league this season, and, among players with more than three opportunities, only 14 players in the AHL have a higher rate of shootout success than Maki’s batting average of .714.

Well, if the Flames were thinking of keeping a roster spot open for a shootout specialist it is nice to know we might have one on the farm.

Over the last 20 games or so, I've been noticing Maki more and more. And liking him more and more. He's really a fun player to watch, afraid of nothing....

I don't think the Flames (CGY) would be worse off if they signed Kolanos and called up Maki to add to Huselius for the shootout purposes. I just wonder if the two would want the fourth line duty.

they want 2 b in the NHL. If the job description includes cleaning Iggy's jock, they'll do it
