Any political thread 90% of the time, unless there's a particular event I want to discuss. But the day to day 'look what this party did' followed by 'yeah well look what this party wants to to do' is just tiring

You could say the same about pretty much every thread, and I don’t mean just on CP. Unfortunately the internet seems to have given some folks the impression that acting like a jackass online is somehow different than acting like a jackass in person. Oh well.

I’m definitely not a mod so I can’t speak for them, but I’d argue that being sin binned for what you post isn’t a reflection of the thread, it’s a result of that individual’s failure to maintain their composure when a complete stranger posts something they disagree with on the interwebs. It’s really not that hard to not get sin binned.

but come on man, play nice.
I suppose it's perhaps not "spicy" enough.
It's just interesting seeing how some threads take off and others don't. for example Peter12's contemplating moving to Calgary, or one of Thor's last year, or the more recent one on p*rn. Dramatically different contents

One thing I appreciate here on CP is despite some obvious conflict it rarely escalates to the level of nastiness on Facebook or other social media. I mean yesterday someone on FB had a typo on their marketplace posting, some bad photos, and maybe priced a little high and wow did they ever get roasted badly.

I've never once opened the longest running and biggest thread I started.

I keep trying (and failing miserably) to avoid the covid threads. Always such a downer to spend time thinking about it.

I don't think there are many threads specifically that I actively avoid. Some i just lurk in because I don't really want to comment in it.
The only one I do avoid are Flames game threads when Flames are losing, or most post game threads after a loss. It's usually just a cesspool of negative opinions, and I really don't want that to ruin my mood further.

I don't read the Gear Grinder threads. I try to stay away from negativity and complaining as much as possible.

Hah, I'm attracted to it like a moth to a flame. I enjoy seething hatred and I get exhausted by positive people to the point where there are some always-happy types in my extended circle that I won't be around.

Best thread on the site. It's mostly silly complaints followed by others ripping the complaint apart. Good fun

Threads currently on the first page of OT which I've never entered -
Golf, Home Renos, Pets, Skiing, Cycling. I avoided that anti-religion thread after the first few pages because the loud atheists just become overbearing (I'm also atheist but who cares? Sub every "you're an idiot if you go to church" for "you're an idiot if you eat meat" and see how obnoxious it sounds)
The gear grinder/random thought threads are probably the first ones I click on every day just because you never know what's gonna be posted

Golf, no more than 9 holes, is ok with friends if it's fun, not crappy weather, hopefully there's some beverages, some crazy cart driving, some Adam Sandler behavior, and the prospects of a good meal afterwards. If it's for work... especially 18 holezzzzz, it can be super painfully slow awkward.

Generally speaking:
Tragically Hip thread (not a fan)
Most Flames threads, unless it involves something of general interest. Trade, hiring/firing, draft. etc.
