Have people suggesting Beauchemin been watching him play much over the last 2 years? He USED to be good but his game has deteriorated massively and he can barely even skate anymore (think Wideman).

Beauchemin is done. Don't want. Let him be.

I think calling Stajan a "good forth line player" is an exaggeration on his abilities. He, in my opinion, is an average forth line player at best. Hence why I feel he is overrated. Now if you disagree with my assessment, thats too bad for you. No need to get all riled up over an aging 4th liner who will be gone in a year.

i don't think stajan is all that skilled, and the little that he had seems to have depleted over the years (it takes the guy roughly 5 grade A chances missed before he can pot one)... He's slow, he gets rag dolled a ton. Frankly, i don't think i'd be able to tell if he were replaced by hamilton as the 4th line C, other than the few million in cap space suddenly available.

There is likely an off ice/intangible element here, but i don't think any of us have any way to actually validate or measure its impact on this group (just like we can't really measure whether Brouwer had much impact in this dept last year).

Not here to just bash stajan, but if i'm a goof for thanking a post questioning stajan's hockey value, thought i'd chime in.

again, just my opinion. you are welcome to yours.
I just think your opinion about Stajan being as bad as you believe he's been was not very correct because I think it short changes him by a fair bit, which is why I responded to it twice, and the 2nd time why I responded the way I did.

Now obviously I didn't have to respond in that way, but I'm not sorry about it either because I think it was not such an accurate opinion (which is why I had called your opinion silly and why I refer to the people who thank or agree with that as goofs).

It is what it is. But yes, I'll agree to disagree on it and be relieved about the fact that those massive Bouma & Stajan contracts will be history after this year at worst.

As it is, there's probably a good chance that neither Bouma nor Stajan will be in the NHL anymore at all after the conclusion of this season.

Because sometimes something Clicks. Why was Calgary's current 26 minute a night first pairing Captain not drafted? Too many are too quick to assume someone will be great forever, on the fringe forever, or terrible forever.

I hope Treliving has a better plan for our 5D than just hoping something clicks for Kulak. It's a bonus when the stars align and someone unexpectedly jumps up the depth chart but it's another thing to rely on wishful thinking.

As for McNabb, physical is fine, but 2 goals is not. He's a fourth liner at best, and we already have Hathaway who can do what he does if need be on that line.
Nope and..... Nope..

nope..

Made me laugh, needed the chuckle. Cheers!

No kidding. Did not foresee Versteeg signing below 2 mil OR less than 2 years. Wrong on both counts. Very, very good deal for the Flames.

TSN was doing a quick preview of free agency for Canadian teams. Button said he thinks the flames should sign Justin Williams. Didn't suggest it was likely, just that he thinks it'd be a good fit.

On Fan 960 this am GG says Flames are still looking for possible RHS forward, who can take some draws as well. Bottom six winger also a consideration. But admits the ranks in free agency are getting thin.

Unless we are adding a top line RHS forward, i'd prefer we have a spot open in camp for one of our prospects to take.

I want to see the competition and upward pressure to keep our vets honest

Justin Williams or Tommy Wingels fit those credentials.

I think the Flames could be looking at Williams, Sharp, and maybe Marleau. The FAN has been poo pooing the thought of Iginla coming back

Rutherford says he is close to making a trade for a 3rd line forward to replace Bonino:

RH shot that can take faceoffs has to be Stafford or Williams IMO.

Other options would be Gagner, or Mike Fisher but those seem very unlikely to me.
