Wasn't he the guy that bought out Martin St. Louis which made him a UFA allowing him to go to Tampa since he didn't see the potential?

in terms of straight up skill, he's probably correct.

but there's more to making a team better than straight up skill... i think Dougie wasn't going to get any better for Calgary and all the other issues with him and Fox have been well documented.

Hopefully, Hanifin and Lindholm will bring the passion and "hate to lose attitude" that was mentioned that the team was lacking on a number of occasions last year... I didn't think that was true, but the move suggests that the management did and that changes needed to be made.

I'm starting to think this trade was made to move out character issues in the dressing room that relate to being motivated to win. And that includes a prospect that wasn't going to sign. Maybe this is why Ferland was moved, because Carolina wanted a team player who plays with heart (and isn't bad on the RW either).

Well now I am reassured we won this trade.

Yup, he is also the same guy who thought Ruslan Zainullin was worth Marc Savard. Button is an idiot, all the brains went to his brother.

Tkachuk knows all of the movie quotes.
Has seen pictures of Banff.
All Star Game was fun.
One of his first preseasons games the Penguins were playing their starting roster, and he got burned by Crosby.
It was his dad checking his phone in the movie, not him.
Usual looking forward to playing with a new team stuff.

I didn't realize he was such a great skater. Watching his highlights, one thing I notice is his numbers may not be as good as Hamilton right now but it seems like his hockey sense in the offensive zone is better. Dougie has a great shot but Hanifin seems like he's reading the play a bit more.

Great skater, huge hockey sense, and (surprisingly) good hands in-close.

I’m very very excited to see him with Tkachuk and Monahan now. Those tight passes below the hash marks were incredible, and if he’s got two guys that can finish? We could be very, very happy.

Just watching the POs, team skating was such a factor. Hamilton wasn't slow but he wasn't quick off the mark. Is Hanifin better out of the gate? Lindholm v Ferland is kind of the same. Ferland wasn't the slowest but I suspect Lindholm is quicker.
