Whats Tree's next move

These are the lines as I currently envision them.

Johnny-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Jankowski-Bennett
Mangiapane-Backlund-Frolik
Hathaway-Shore-Foo

It's pretty clear that the flames are missing a top-6 piece; either on the RW or at Center. The question is how do the flames do this?

• One idea would be to replace Jankowski with a better #2 center via UFA. But then Jankowski shifts to the fourth line.
• A second possibility is to pick up an additional RW via UFA so Bennett shifts to the third line LW position. And then Mangiapane goes back to the minors
• A third possibility is to package Jankowski or Bennett with a draft pick to upgrade via trade. Would anyone trade Jankowski/Bennett + 1st for Stone?

Since we won’t get Tavares. I see tre going big on James Neal. And ideally we buyout Brouwer.

Up until about a week ago I would have hated the idea of Neal. I despise him as a player. But, I think the team needs a few more guys like that. SOB players who can put the puck in the net.

I agree. He makes dirty hits, he’s cheap, etc. He also scores. And bring a POS on the ice is an asset. We need some more of it.

Neal would be one of my top choices for sure. Guy can snipe. We need more of that.

That's a great group of forwards, imo(imagine if Bennett breaks out too? damn) and a solid defense.

If we could get Neal on a 3 year deal he'd be a solid fit. Problem is he's going to get a 6 year deal probably.

Of course, there will probably be another round of compliance buy outs after the next lock out so maybe the term wouldn't matter.
