First sentence. I said I summed up the last two seasons.

My mistake! Versteeg’s previous season really skews the numbers though, almost seems like you were trying to make him seem better than he was.

I would like it to NOT be Perron. Guy is a weasel. Not in the good way either.

That's why I put the total PP minutes beside the total points.

He is good. Especially on the PP. He has one less point the Neal did on the powerplay the last two seasons despite playing almost 116 minutes less powerplay minutes.

JVR and Neal are MUCH better players than Lucic. I wouldn't be upset if the Flames gave a 5 or 6 year deal to either of those guys.

There was a time where I would have agreed with you but watching him this year turned me around. He has a nose for the net, plays a heavy game and isn't afraid to muck it up. With Ferkland gone I see Perron as a good fit.

I agree with you regarding Versteeg being amazing two seasons ago, but he clearly lost a step last season, even before the injury. I do think the flames should at least give Versteeg a camp invite if he doesn’t sign anywhere. That said, he didn’t look great playing on the 3rd and 4th line.

Just to be clear, I only included him for comparisons sake. I have no desire to bring him back for another year.

I'd really like to see what Lindholm and Tkachuk could do together. With their awareness and hockey IQ they could be deadly.

People mention JVR a lot for the Flames but again he has Calgary on a no trade list. That means one of two things will happen A) He won't sign here (most likely) or B) We out bid other teams significantly (not good in a cap world).

I have little desire to give anyone not named JVR a long-term deal. If it comes back to it, sign Vanek and Versteeg to short-term deals.

I wonder if they are not done with the trade market? I can see Bennett/Jankowski/Kylington/Stone being shopped for a top winger.

Nice to see Peters just be straightforward about things, that the pp guy has some guys in mind that he wants, and just in general avoid the cliche “we are always looking at ways to improve”.

Basically says they’re coming back here, likely have some interviews set up and expect a couple of those to go in their favour in the next 6 days or so.
My guess is at least one of the names will be somewhat out of left field/not discussed...and maybe not super flashy.

Just another name to throw in: Rick Nash? Not sure about his PP numbers.

I like that we have our assistant coaches in place before FA instead of the Dave Cameron cameo at Winsport Development Camp from a couple years ago.

It would be.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Whoever whenever Mony wasn't suppoosedly suffering back/neck/wrist issues often was already near the best line in hockey.

The only thing is because we haven't had enough top six forwards, we couldn't afford to stack everything on line one.

But #### GG was silly to never try it in must score situations last season. At least not that I remember.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Tkachuk
JVR/Neal - Backlund - Lindholm (swede power)
Bennett - Jankowski - Frolik
Lazar/Dube - Shore - Brouwer
Foo

I can live with that.

Edit: forgot Bennett, somehow.
