Default Flames trim camp roster to 35

https://www.nhl.com/flames/news/flam...ter-reductions

The following players have been assigned to the Calgary Wranglers:

Clark Bishop (C)

Colton Poolman (D)

Oscar Dansk (G)

Ben Jones (C)

Brady Lyle (D)

Yan Kuznetsov (D)

35 players remain: 3 goalies, 11 defencemen, 21 forwards.

Additionally, Aspirot has been signed to an AHL contract with the Wranglers, so we know the fate of the one "actual" PTO at Flames Camp

I'm guessing we see a pretty young roster that travels to Edmonton, then a pretty finalized roster for the final game against Vancouver on Friday.

I'd love to see Wolf start in Edmonton if the Oilers are playing their stars. Very interested in seeing how he does.

I feel the exact opposite - not showing them Wolf in the pre-season.

I get it, but what can I say. I'm impatient.

I'm a bit surprised to see Dryden hunt, not on the list today.

I thought he was expected to make the lineup? Has his stock dropped?

He was a little rough last night. Had a giveaway that lead to a goal iirc.

Between Hunt and Zary for a 4th line spot most likely?

Ruzicka, Duehr, and Coronato seem like locks.

Not based on what I've seen from him in the NHL preseason. Does he play the Edmonton game as a last shot at showing he belongs?

I think Klapka was overhyped from the Penticton tournament (as much as 5 years older than many).

Hasn't done much since that I've seen.

Interesting how Klapka tapered off and Coronato elevated since penticton

Klapka pulled the same trick on people last year as well.

I think Klapka goes down. Even if he plays one more game and impresses in that game. He wasn't consistently at that level through camp. You don't make the team based on one game. If he can go down and show consistency in the A then he has a good shot at being called up though.

Klapka probably needs more time in the A. He has shown a ton of growth in the last calendar year though. I saw a few Wranglers game early on last year and couldn't believe how lost this kid looked on the ice. Didn't think he'd ever sniff the NHL after that. The games i saw towards the end of the season he looked a lot better.

I don't think he's quite ready yet but he looks like someone who will challenge for NHL minutes at some point this year and that's way more than I ever thought he'd be at the beginning of last season.

Zary should probably start the season in the A too. Same with Solovyov. They all look awesome but there's no sense in having them as the 12/13 or 6/7 when they could be in the AHL logging top end minutes and providing the Flames with players on the farm who they trust cant play NHL minutes.

With the Rooney injury I think the Flames may actually make a waiver claim before the season to grab an energy guy for the 4th line.

Klapka was really good in the AHL playoffs as well. He might need more time in the AHL, but I think they see a lot of potential in him, hence why they have kept him up.

Do we have any idea how long Rooney is out for? He was hurt in practice, correct?
