The 3 firsts in 2013 didn’t all pan out. There was Monahan and then 2 complete busts. Sam Bennett not becoming that true #1 center also hurts. Hunter Smith and Mason McDonald haven’t panned out as planned.
I guess sometimes it’s all about timing. If we rebuilt in 2010 and 2011 instead, maybe we end up with a Scheifele-Johansen 1-2 punch instead. Or a Seguin-Huberdeau combo if things went really south. Maybe in a different life.

It's just in these POs that you could say Monahan hasn't panned out. He's got more points from his year than anyone but Mackinnon IIRC. Barkov is close but he went 2nd overall. As for the others, yeah 2013 wasn't a good draft year at all. There's not a lot of good players from that first round.
