Default Best Chinese Food in West Calgary

Hey CP,

I am up in the west end of Calgary (Aspen). Most of the Chinese food places we've tried around here are midling-at-best. Does anyone have a suggestion for good Chinese takeout or delivery up in this end of town?

Cheers!

Have you try Signature Palace in Signal Hill? It's pretty good, price is reasonable.

+1 for Bill's. We're in the deep south so we go here when I don't want to drive into Chinatown.

Not much for dine in atmosphere but food is good.Might be a real good bet for take out option. I go for their lunch time buffet and it is always consistently good.

Wow. Toi Shan is on my worst list. But there are powerful people in my lobby.

Nothing to add here, other than Chinese food seems to be a classic case case of ymmv. So many times I've heard others say so and so Chinese food place is no good, while we've enjoyed it and vice versa.

Yeah, I didn't like this neither. It's too western style Chinese food for me.

Golden leaf is good for certain things, not so much for others.

What I usually get there
Ginger beef
Breaded shirmp
Mixed Veg with snow peas
Chow Mein
Chicken Fried Rice

All of those things are great there. The wonton soup was terrible. There's a vietnamese place treasure of Saigon by the 7-11 on old banff coach road that has great food especially their wonton soup.

Go there about 7:30 on a weeknight - the staff comes out and eats in the middle of the room. They feast on some crazy stuff that I don’t think is on the menu.

Oh, I think those are staff dinner and yeah, not gonna be on menu. My brother used to own a Chinese restaurant and I helped out in the kitchen when I was going to University. What the staff meal has often depends on the chef's mood or what's fresh on the market.

We like eating here. Consistent quality and price is right for sure. Hot and Sour soup, Beef fried thick noodle and Egg foo young are our favorites.

Also has a western menu. They make a great Monte Cristo sandwich.

Haven't had it in a while but August Moon on Elbow Drive was always a go-to for me whenever I would order Chinese food.

Was just about to post this. I moved to the Deep South a while back but still make the occasional trip to August moon when I feel like great Chinese takeout.
