Finished it up, loved it again. Dumping all the episodes at once certainly doesn’t allow much for social media interaction on the show, no anticipation can build up.

Watching Star Trek Discovery, I’m looking forward to a new episode of a show every week, for the first time in years. I can’t get any of that this way.

I haven't watched it yet, but it looks to be episodic. However, there are only 7 episodes of the after show to 9 of the main feature, so I don't know if mixing them would be a good idea. Better to binge, then do the after-show.

Spoiler!

It’s not episodic. The first aftershow containers spoilers of the last episode, so you pretty much need to have watched the whole season before moving on to the after show.

The first episode of the aftershow specifically states not to watch it until after watching the whole series. It explicitly gives a spoiler warning.

Watched the first two episodes of S2 this weekend, so far so good. How the h>ll do people binge watch anythign? I barely have time to watch a couple of episodes at a time and would probably fall asleep if I tried anyhow. Maybe I'm just getting old.

By episodic I meant that it is split into episodes (as opposed to one big 2 hour special, for example).

It's good to know that they warn people in the very first episode. I might watch it, but it's rare I've gotten any meaningful experience from after-shows.

I find them pretty painful. They basically stretch out what can be written in a one page article into an hour long program by having a bunch of Jibber jabber on s sofa.

Just finished binging this last night, and I enjoyed it immensely. I'd definitely put it on par with SSN 1.

I agree with your thoughts on Billy and 8. You could completely drop those characters and pretty much nothing would be missing. If it was a longer season, 8 could have been an interesting side arc, but it was just too truncated.

Overall a good season though, felt it started a little meh, but was really satisfying by the end. It had a better build-up to the finish than season 1.

To jump on the meme, Steve and Bob, the heroes we need.

You can't just go and start creating abbreviations or acronyms all willy-nilly like that.

Okay, I added a spoiler warning to the title.

So, Billy - was there a point to him or is he just context to Max? He seemed to have large screen presence, but it didn't lead to anything.

Or maybe it was just the shows creators paying some homage to the jerk / badass character.

the writers wanted a human antagonist as well...

I think Billy serves his purpose, he's part of Steve's arc and he makes Max's character more interesting and allows you to be sympathetic towards a character (Max) who isn't someone you immediately warm to.

Just finished and really enjoyed it, probably more than the first season.

I am concerned that future seasons might go into some X-Men type theme and I want none of that however.

3 Episodes in and I don't think i'm going to finish, not much has happened and don't care for any of the new characters, and getting tired of the old ones outside of the boys.

Granted, I was never excited about this season, always thought the first season would work best as a stand alone. The fact that the show heavily steals it's visuals took a lot of the shine off, whenever I see the giant monster in the sky I just think about the Mist and can't get into it.

I don't think he has much to do with Steve's arc at all. I don't even think Steve has much of an arc in season two. He's just a good dude. I think that's what I liked about his character the most in season 1. He was set up to be the stereotypical 80s villain but just ended up being a genuinely decent guy who did stupid teenager stuff.
