The democrats are really making the ability for workers to join a union if they want to a major focal point of their campaign, it got one of if not the biggest crowd response in Harris’ first speech when she mentioned it. Problem is that’s only half the battle, they need to focus more attention on creating a better roadmap for employees who do join a union to actually get a collective agreement.
Amazon workers in New York voted to unionize 2 years ago and they have yet to even sit down with the company to start negotiating a contract.

When I think of someone who has their finger on the pulse on popular culture, I definitely think of Ben Shapiro.
Honestly, if I'm the Dems, I leave this stuff alone and let the right keep scoring own goals. If Republicans want to drive the Swifties out to the polls, by all means let them.

How this guy or a number of other podcast hosts ever became considered “intellectuals” is beyond me.

The only people who consider them "intellectuals" are conservatives and self-important "classical liberals" (basically conservatives who want to appear unbiased).

Given the whole embarrassment back when he was commenting on the lyrics to WAP, i would suggest that Ben actually is a leading expert on manufactured enthusiasm.

Political campaigns have always had an element of manufactured enthusiasm. It's just part of the nature of the game.
As if Trump's campaign doesn't benefit from manufactured enthusiasm. It's kind of the whole point of those dorky red hats.

I'm just shocked people like Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro seemingly still have an audience. Well, actually I'm not, but it's depressing nonetheless.

They find an audience with built in views and preach to them. What I wonder is how much they actually beleive and how much is total grift.

It looks like the only new viewers that Fox news can attract are incels, as they are really leaning into that demographic with the attacks on Harris. I had to look up what "hawk tuah" means. I instantly regretted it.

I'm one of the few here that likes Ben Shapiro. I think Shapiro is a pretty good interviewer. His guests on Sunday Special (sometimes liberals) are pretty good. His views are very conservative, I'm not sure they're MAGA crazy. His daily show can be a bit much.
Peterson has just lost the plot ranting to the sky. That grifter Dave Rubin got to him.

If you are at the point Shapiro "seems" reasonable, I think it's safe to say it's you that has moved to accepting his views, not that the views are acceptable.

This is nuance not important to the electorate. One might question if the dichotomy is intentional. Show lip service win votes, but don’t implement the meaningful steps of giving unions power.

Possibly. I've liked Shapiro for a long time and I don't think he's moved so I haven't either. I don't agree with him 100%, again, his daily show is a lot, at times intolerable. But I think he's a very good interviewer. He's neutral and let's his guests speak.

That is exactly how I view him. I don't think him, and people like him, really hold the views they are saying. They just know how to grift conservatives into sounding smart by coming up with BS explanations for conservative viewpoints. People that already have those opinions love to hear it because of confirmation bias. There is no intellectual analysis here and none of his talking points hold up to any real scrutiny, but heck, it makes him rich.

Chuds who have oratory skills often are misconstrued as intelligent or smart, especially by the easily duped. It's just their buttery-smooth delivery that makes people think they
know what they're doing.
Remember when Grandpa Simpson was selling his revitalizing tonic and got the crowd cheering? Yeah, that.

His main schtick is to Gish Gallop in a debate, or bully college students in forums. He fails miserably against able opponents. Like when Andrew Neil of the BBC destroyed him. Thom Hartmann crushed him on the entertainment industry. David Pakman did on guns.
